LSU has a drug testing program in place for athletics which sets terms for sanctions and follows NCAA guidelines. Failure to follow its own policy regarding mandatory suspensions for failed drug tests exposes the school to NCAA sanctions. There should not be much room for lawyers to cut any slack. The school either follows their own policies or they don't.

You don't seem to have much experience with attorneys. If the kid is going to have to sit out a game for a "failed test" any decent attorney would challenge whether the test was accurate and, pending review and appeal of the test results, the kid would be allowed to play. Drop the appeal after the Texas game, let the player sit out a meaningless game, and there you go.

If the school wanted the player eligible for the Texas game, they would also argue the kid should be allowed to play, pending resolution of the test results challenge (wink, wink). Courts are loathe to impose a penalty on an individual while questions of due process are unresolved.

You need to have more faith in the ability of S!E!C! schools to skirt their own rules. After all, the S!E!C! rules are written with built-in safegards against their application during "inconvenient times."

the current policy that i shared above appears to provide plenty of wiggle room for the athletes, i'd be shocked if any of these players were suspended for the texas game; it would have to have been an egregious and indefensible violation.

So kicked out is not expelled I guess.
Expelled could mean good luck graduating 2020.

Different rules for different districts as well.
So it would be good to have more info as it comes in if you guys can get it.

Very interesting. Something pretty significant had to have happened because Trinity Catholic really likes its football program and he was a major piece. Takes a lot to get kicked out for a football player.
