Did an Adam McKay rewatch recently
The Big Short - 7/10
Was a 10/10 the first time I saw it, but now that we know Adam McKay is a one-trick pony, the fun little segues to Margot Robbie in a bathtub, or the 4th wall “this isn’t actually how it happened, tee hee” scenes are just kind of obnoxious. Gosling is fantastic and should have won an Oscar for this.
Vice - 5.5/10
I remember McKay getting criticized for being too nice to Cheney in this movie, which is insane because this is as hardcore a skewering as it gets. Would be a 3/10 if anybody but Bale was playing the lead role.
Don’t Look Up - 7.5/10
Feels like McKay’s insufferable style is a little less apparent here, and the Chalamet character gives it some gravity. Jonah Hill is funny enough to save the film, and Mark Rylance/Meryl Streep/Cate Blanchett are doing maybe the worst work of their entire careers.
Winning Time - 0/10
Don’t know how anybody liked this garbage. It’s McKay completely unhinged, and I turned it off about 15 minutes into episode 1.
Final thought is that I’m really glad that Adam McKay was mostly a hands-off EP on Succession.

When the kid/Yule takes control there at the last supper as somebody suggests a prayer..."I got this." I must admit I tear up. He knew.
Steve Carrell's character in that movie is like my spirit animal bruh
Oppenheimer - 9/10
Really great performances and despite being 3 hours, it didn’t feel like it. Definitely not a Nolan film I would go rewatch though. At least not right away. Felt like I got the entire experience in one sitting. Then again, I’m not on Nolan’s nuts like most moviegoers are.
I still get a kick outta Truman..."What!?!...fine, again." But it was against yellow folk, notice he didn't touch the White Nazi's/Germany. It took Russia to do the wet work there and they was more than up to it. How did we repay Russia? Plotted against them to break off from defeated Germany & Japan and go after them..."as long as we're here let's clean 'em out so we don't have to fuss and fight with them for the next 80 years, right?"
"Wait a second if we do that we'll have no dupe, no boogeyman in which to build our MIC."
"You're right, by God and Sonny Jesus!"
In for penny.
In for pound.
8/10 sounds about right. That ending
My niece and nephew both loved it and that Nicki Minaj song at the end was a jam.
Jesus H. Christ, you went in there, and paid good $ for that garbage, bum?
me.
Everything Everywhere All At Once
I waited for a good minute to see this one streaming. I knew it won the Academy, so I was intrigued. Well............![]()
Hated this flick, and I have no clue why it was so popular. One thing they got correct, this movie is definately everything, everywhere, all the time, at the same time, working together, mumbled, sewn, hacked, mashed, stirred, all at once.
1/10
I've rewatched a lot of Coen Bros movies the last week. Lebowski, Buster Scruggs, Man Who Wasn't There, Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, True Grit - all still fantastic. Probably watching a Serious Man and O Brother soon as well. I hadn't seen Buster Scruggs, but really enjoyed the first two parts and the Tom Waits miner part.
The over-stylization definitely got old quickly. No interest in season 2, which is getting bad reviews anyway.
Barbie - 8.5/10
Oppenheimer - 8/10
Worth every penny. So did you watch Ben Shapiro's 45 minute review?
Finally saw Barbie last night. 7/10
Not much of any story and Will Ferrell and his character were completely wasted in this movie. Gosling stole the movie. Had fun watching it but not sure I'll ever watch it again. Will see part 2 tho
Watch O Brother Where art thou and then No Country. Go from sweet and sour sauce. End with a mixture of the two, Fargo.
He's another Left who cast Trump down with the sodomites. him and his mother he ed.
This is more insightful to your own mental state than objective movie opinions
You're just screaming about Trump in a movie review thread
Absolutely.
McKay had a significant role in some parts of Succession including directing the pilot so that's a positive on his record and you seem annoyed by the fact. Winning time, I liked the little I saw of it, didn't seem as sanitized as sports bios of the past. Not sure what ur hate boner for him his about. I mean I'm curious what sports shows based on real events are better in your eyes
Oppenheimer : 5/10, nice visucally, good acting, e storywise
GOTG 3: 6/10 , meh
Do they include the part(s) where Truman refuses to A-Bomb the White folk in Nazi Germany, but hits the Yellow folk in Japan once...then finds out they're resisting...and says:::"Again."
Huh?
-Cocaine Bear- showed up on the Amazon stream today. What a treat I thought. me. It's total .
