Keep in mind this is hearsay, but there was a rumor posted on Inside Texas by a subscriber saying Strong and Watson met with Denton Guyer's head coach last month to talk about QB Jerrod Heard. Basically the meeting amounted to UT needing to simplify their offense (including using Heard's legs) in order for him to be most effective. Something to think about as spring approaches and we ponder who the QB will be and where this offense is going.

This is promising in the fact that Jerrod Heard will get a shot at competing and taking over the starting position but what is a bit disappointing to me is that the staff would have to reach back to a HS coach to understand what their next move should be regarding the position. Watson is paid some good money and was brought in specifically to make those calls. I don't typically rant but all the moves regarding the QB's haven't been positive and lack certainty.

Thats a good point..If this indeed true I get that the UT coaches are not impressed with Heard as a QB. I see this being done as a last resort type of move...

You're right. I found the report. It was from 247, four days ago, and it said juco coaches were inquiring about his grades. That sounds like the likely explanation.
