    Yao effect.

Yao's teammate T-Mac took votes from Kobe and almost won a starting job on the All Star Team. He alone accounted for 1,000,000 votes.

Aaron Brooks got 600,000 votes...that's more than Derrick Rose.

That's 1.6 million votes that could have gone to Kobe but instead went to Yao's teammates.

It's actually pretty amazing that Kobe is only 100,000 behind LeBron with a 1.6 million vote handicap. That's some serious popularity.

Trevor Ariza and Scola combined for over 1,000,000 votes. LeBron would have to deal with a 1 million vote handicap if he played in Yao's conference.

In the East, there's only LeBron. If Yao played in the East, Kobe would win the All Star voting by a landslide every year.

LOL son did I ever say EVERYONE goes just to see Kobe...I said he'll probably play cuz so many ppl want to see him play aka theres a lot more LA fans out there then other teams....Your act is old, only reason you always talk about Kobe is cuz your either bored & have no life or you just enjoy replies from Laker fans.

ill tell you what Jam Stoned, if Kobe wins a back to back le this year with Finals MVP and a decent shooting FG% then I would stop hatin on the man.

Until then, he's just a one hit wonder no different than Chauncey Billups. A player that just got lucky he was on a talented team.
First off the Pistons that year were not that talented. We just played the best team ball in the league. I could name at least 5 teams who had more talent that year.

Second, Kobe is the most talented player on that talented team. He's not lucky. The guy can be a , but we've all heard of the stories of how dedicated Kobe has been. When you put in the work, the events that transpire are not lucky.

Kobe when he came into the league had a great moment of failure when he airballed 4 crucial shots against the Jazz in the playoffs. Yes, 4 airballs. But do you know what he did? He worked his *** off and is now an all time great.

Yes, I despise the Lakers ability to get talented players year after year. Yes I hate how every other Laker fan is a stupid bandwagon fan. But sometimes you have to give credit where credit is due.

Kobe haters will never stop moving the goal posts to avoid giving the man his due props. For years all we heard from them is that Kobe couldn't win without Shaq as the main man, and when he DID do just that they now say he only has one legitimate championship.

I stopped paying attention to them a long time ago.

Who caress?! Stat wise media love-wise, Lebron has surpassed Kobe.
And Lebron is DEFINITELY the MVP so far this season ...

He still needs a le though and when get it the le of "King" will be well deserved ...

I have said on here many times he has the chance to pass both Kobe and eventually MJ ...Just like Kobe wasnt satisfied being better thanMcgrady, Wade aI etc.
I dont think Bron willsettle for being better than Kobe ...but we NEED to see it first ...I think he will ...

Kobefans are are confused at the moment. They want to celebrate the wins against the Blazers and Spurs, but they cant give the team too much credit and glory because Kobe didnt play .

These last two wins have been the quiestest Laker wins this season.

Agreed. Why do we even have an official thread for the MOP of all-time? Oh, I forgot. Oden also had a stickied thread in the past.

Nothing personal against the Spurs but there's not much to talk about when the Lakers just beat a team they're supposed to beat.

    No surprises here.

That's cool. But this thread is about Kobe, so you better stick to it. Now I am going to bash Kobe in this thread and there is nothing you can do about it.

Bryant unsure about playing in All-Star game
    By Beth Harris

Kobe Bryant isn’t sure if he’ll play in this weekend’s NBA All-Star game in Dallas because of his sore left ankle.

Bryant missed his second consecutive game Monday night against San Antonio, which lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 101-89.

“If I’m not able to play, I won’t play. But if I’m healthy, I will,” he said.

Bryant said he can’t push off on his left foot.

“I can’t move to play. Can’t go,” he said, adding he would be a game-time decision Wednesday at Utah. “If I’m ready to go, I’ll play.”

Lakers trainer Gary Vitti would like Bryant to rest through All-Star weekend, capped by Sunday’s game. Bryant said he couldn’t commit either way.

“I don’t know what it’s going to look like on Sunday. I’m not clairvoyant,” he said, laughing.

Bryant stayed in the lockerroom to get treatment Monday night.

“It’s frustrating. I’m not used to this. I don’t know what the players are supposed to do back here,” he said. “I don’t know what’s going on half the time.”

Bryant’s streak of 235 consecutive games played ended Saturday when he sat out the Lakers’ first win at Portland since 2005. He said his reputation for being a warrior who refuses to shut it down is overblown.

“I’m not an idiot. I’m not going to run through a wall just to run through a wall,” he said. “If it’s an injury where I feel like I can play through it and have it heal while I’m playing, then I’ll play. But if it’s the type of injury where it’s going to get worse when I play, then I won’t.”

Asked what percentage he needed to be at to play again, Bryant said, “If I can move, I’m good. If I can move and get to the basket, I’m good.”

Bryant originally sprained his ankle on Jan. 29 in Philadelphia. He aggravated it last week against Charlotte when teammate Lamar Odom stepped on his foot.

Already this season, he’s been playing through a fracture of his right index finger.

Andrew Bynum missed Monday night’s game because of a bruised right hip.

That is cool. Miss the all-star game. He doesn't deserve to be starting anyway. The MOP of all-time receives too much media hype about him and his shoes.

Kobe just needs his ass whipped. that's all he needs. one good beat down. the dude has never earned anything his entire life aside from actually making it into the NBA. everything else has been handed to him on a silver platter. I would love nothing more than to see Kenyon Martin just knock this dude out right in the middle of the court leaving him unconscious on the floor. then at least the free throws from that would be legit.

No, but wishing someone would physically attack another person is not beyond reproach of the realm of "hood rat status." That's kind of a move though.

Terrible human being? Granted he isn't beyond being a bag and gloryhound, but that's incorrect. Wishing someone to hurt someone is a weak move. If you think he should be counted amongst the likes of Idi Amin, Hitler, and someone who kills their children whom are really terrible human beings, then you need to give up the ghost. The hate is troublesome.
