    I don't follow...

Bonner was on the team that gave up 81 points to one player. So that means what about Bonner - that's he's not a defensive stalwart? We all know that.

Bonner is NOT a bad player. Let me repeat that - Bonner is NOT a bad player. He's a role player and a fairly decent one at that. To understand why he plays the minutes he does would mean you understand the Spurs system and the confidence a coach can have in his players.

Does Bonner get too many minutes - yes and no. Some games he does, when he's off. When he's on, he probably should play more. The Spurs are 1st in the NBA in 3pt % at .395. That's 40% from the 3 pt line!!!! Bonner is a part of that and is currently 7th in the league shooting 45%. And as important as the 3 pt shot is to the Spurs success, Bonner is a fairly significant part of that.

From NBA.com, the 2nd best +/- for 5 Spurs players at one time is Duncan, Bonner, Parker, Green and Neal with a score of 24. Bonner is 2nd on the team (behind TP) in individual +/- w/ 167.

I really don't get all the Bonner hate . . . some games he's not very good. In the playoffs, his production wasn't the same. But it's not like he's some 4th string scrub.

Instead of bashing him, watch how well he and the team does when he's in the game and compare that to when he's out of the game.
Now post his same numbers in the playoffs... we'll wait here...

The defense in general makes me really nervous. This is what I call fool's gold win. I'll take the W, but you're just not going far giving up 111 points in a game.

In the playoffs we should settle for a three bigman rotation. Give all of Blair's minutes to Splitter.

The negative nanny in me says, well, the Spurs were supposed to win this game...the Magic played a tough OT game against the Heat last night and then had to go on the road to San Antonio to play a B2B against a rested Spurs team.

Ah, it...a WIN is a WIN!!!

I didn't read any of that. Sorry.

Bonner should never be on the court in crunch time is the main point. I'd rather he not even be on the team or on the court at all. Our defense stunk tonight and Bonner doesn't ever make it better. The only thing he does it space the floor. He's good at nothing else and he shouldn't get as much court time as he does.

Even though I didn't read your post I see a few stats you've put out there and I assume they are for the regular season? If you want to compile playoff stats I will read that post.

I think Blair can provide energy and rebounding in the playoffs. That might be more useful than Bonner's 3 pt shooting which can be neutralized.

Pop has a really good defensive lineup in TP/Manu/KL/TD/TS. He's just got to play that lineup more. I am sure if that unit played more the defense would improve.
