CEO Nolan Ryan and General Manger Jon Daniels had to be separated by manager Ron Washington Tuesday night in the midst of a Rangers sit-down meeting. This is not the first time they did not see eye to eye. The reason for the fight speculation that it was over bench coach Jackie More and first base coach Dave Anderson. After the playoff loss the two coaches would not be back with the team, so this could have started the row. I don't think I would start any crap with Nolan..........

To play Devil's Advocate of my own post, what if you did the whole Perez vs Vargas route, lost that gamble, and then David Price ends up burning to death in a grease fire the next day meaning that TB has to call up an emergency starter in which you would have had a great shot to win anyway but you already lost so you lost your chance. Then you'd also be kicking yourself. It's like the quantum mechanics of dual-wave particality (sp?) and Schrodinger's cat. You really don't know the outcome until you turn around and see it for yourself

NOLAN RYAN TO RETIRE AS TEXAS RANGERS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 31

Arlington, Texas—Texas Rangers Chief Executive Officer Nolan Ryan today announced his retirement, effective October 31.

“This is the right time for me to step down from my role of overseeing the Rangers organization,” said Ryan. “I am extremely proud of what this organization has accomplished. On the field, we have enjoyed great success at the major league level. The fans have supported us in record numbers the last two years and we have been able to upgrade the ballpark and enhance the in-game experience to reward that loyalty.

“We have a group of talented and passionate employees who have helped make this success possible. This organization is in good hands. I am leaving with a lot of great memories from my tenure here and I know the organization will continue to thrive in the years to come.”

“Under Nolan’s leadership and guidance over the last six years, the Rangers organization has made enormous strides both on and off the field,” said Rangers Co-Chairmen Ray Davis and Bob Simpson. “Nolan has meant so much to this franchise and to our fans. We thank him for his many contributions, including his role in helping to develop one of the finest baseball operations staff in the game.

“Today we turn the page on what we believe is a very bright future for this organization. We wish Nolan all the best.”

It was coming. Him and Daniels fighting. We can't blame Nolan. I feel this is a situation where they were going to get rid of him, but let him save face because of everything he's done for the franchise.

Nolan didn't retire, he resigned. Jeff on today's Ticket 760 show said that Nolan made it
known that he didn't retire. I'm not surprised after that near fight a week ago......

Rangers will probably suck next year. Oh well, it was a good run. It would have been great if the Rangers could have won the World Series.

hate to lose kinsler, but this is probably a great trade. now we have an everyday 1B, and Profar will be an everyday player. Profar's ceiling > Kinsler

the team will be better off in the long run

after tigers were bounced from the playoffs Fielder said.

"It's not really tough for me," Fielder said. "It's over. I've got kids I've got to take care of. I've got things I've got to take care of. For me, it's over, bro."

sorry but I would not want a teammate who didnt give a about losing. good riddance
