He seems like he's actually excited in this video. He seems pretty smart I don't know why he's so camera shy. He costing himself millions by being so kawhiet.

That's basically how Kawhi is in one on one interviews and the intro presser showcases how he is in group formats. He obviously hates the attention and speaking on anything not related to basketball. I feel sorry for him (to an extent) cause going to LA is going to be so much of an adjustment for him. The Raptors media will likely take it easy on him cause they are trying to keep him but if he signs in LA next summer he is going to get more than he bargained for.

He may be able to put on this little farce to rehab his image for a few months but he just isn't the social butterfly his group needs him to be to pull off whatever they have in mind. He is a great player who is used to letting his play on court do all the talking but it takes much more to get his brand to the heights they want. Curry, Klay Thompson, LeBron, Harden, Westbrook, etc all have more personality in their pinkies then Kawhi has in general.

His own family has always described him as quiet and humble. Teammates, coaches, players around the league always talk about how quiet he is. Media complains about him not wanting to do any press and when forced he tells them to stick strctly to basketball and he gives the least amount of info possible. I would be shocked if he doesn't suc b to the pressure of having to be more open and social and have some sort of anxiety attack.

Wow, that was a much better interview. He seems more genuine in his answer to the Toronto question in this one. He doesn't want to look past the season and just wants to focus on this season. If he looks past it, I think he's thinking that it will result in a poor season for him and his team. I think he's got the right approach, that is, if he's telling the truth. It's definitely the right way to go about it.

On paper Toronto’s lineup is the best defensive team that could come out from the East. And could be exciting to watch because of their youth and explosiveness. But I don’t know where the leadership will come from. Certainly not from Kawhitter. Lowry is overrated.

I suspect he has definitely been coached and probably knew it would be soft ball questions. He also has to produce at a high level this year. Given what happened last year, I suspect if he has an off year, misses time with injuries he may not reap the contract he (or family) thinks he deserves.

Ahh the scorned ex-girlfriend that is ST...I'm sure this thread will remain at the top of the forum for at least the next year

him. He's not Tim, Tony, Manu, D-Rob or any other player that stayed loyal to the organization over the years. He's a name on a roster that helped the Spurs win a le. At the end of the day, that's all that matters.

Quit letting him live rent free in your head and worry about this years team. He's not worth the wasted energy.

there roster is similar to the spurs last season, but more experience youth...

past 2-3 years, spurs loss like 5-8 guys on the main roster rotation..

People here are looking him in that Raptors jersey and still asking "but but why... ". If he loses muscle mass, if he sounds weird...Like 15 years old girls stalking ex on IG "does he miss me? it's clear he misses me..he'll regret leaving me...wtf he says he doesn't? liar!! he still loves me so much, it doesn't matter if he's already with other girl....he still loves meeee"

People don't listen, they can't move on so I'll play and enjoy their masochistic game.

Who the cares? Kawhitter can play for the WNBA and those women have more balls than him.

ECF? Nah. Toronto can't beat Boston.

-Raptor best player wasn't on court for a real, whole game in last 18 months. if he can stay healthy, it will take half season to have him playing at a good level.

-Brad Stevens>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Nurse' first year as head coach.

-Lowry hates Kawhi, he hates the trade, and hates Raptors FO since they wanted to trade him too...They will have a lot of chemistry issues on court/off court.

-Raptors defense can't do anything against a lineup of plenty great shooters/scores like Kyrie, Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Hayward, Hordford, plus their bench.

Tom Orsborn from SAEN trying to get something from Kawhi, naturally nothing came of it. But that weird laugh again. LDN saying "you knew that was coming"

Such a tool for his 'no regrets' comment

"No regrets" in the way he's looking for the present, not the past.

He's present-focused, he said he wants to play again...Stay healthy and return to court are bigger concerns -in a player's career- than what happened in offseason.

This is very sane and the right approach to this new season

I wonder why people here expect a player will say he regrets of the past in public when he's on other team now.

The funny thing is his weird laugh was trending on Tw over LeBron in LA/Melo in Houston on Media Day.

Most memes about him being a robot learning to laugh, being a serial killer with a maniacal laugh...For better or worse, yesterday becomes International Kawhi's Laugh Day, he stole the show.

His last pics with LeBron/Kobe got viral like his laugh now...Not bad at all if his camp is trying to make him more "visible".

You dont live here bro. I can already tell by your assumptions. Everyone loves the Spurs here. Zero traffic during games. The shtick that you see on here isn't how the Real World is.

Thanks for falling for the bait.

I've lived here all my life bro. I'm not saying people in san Antonio don't love the spurs, it's just that san Antonio as a whole is not a sports city where people are enamored with and obsessed with sports compared to other cities I've been where they get excited with even regular season games like golden state or Oklahoma. I guess people here value more spending the nite out with family and doing other stuff besides watching sports. (The reason i say that in san antonio high school football takes the first spot in people hearts because its closer and more intimate than pro sports to people here and it goes inline with san Antonio's conservative familial reputation.)

From what i seen from bars around the city and people in general is that they dont rowdy till the end of the season(esp important games) and obviously the playoffs. You'll see a couple of generation x/millinials sports geeks cheering them throughout the long season at restaurant/bars, but for the most part people there are more concerned with their significant other and food/drinks than the spurs. Don't even get me started with generation z. The selfie generation that can't be off their cellphone for more than 5 mins.

This. He's not going to blame himself or his family for the situation so nothing he says about it will please anyone so why bother? He has moved on, it is time for the fans to move on as well. Until the h2h matchup then have at it.

I wish him the best (besides not being bitter it would imo boost Tim/Tony/Manu's legacy) but I hope the Spurs do better.

And do you expect he cries about it his whole life?

What happened in offseason should leave in the past.

Both sides have to look for the present, this is a new life for him and a new Spurs era for the team.
If he can stay healthy he will play a great level again, and the Spurs will be a top team this season like always.

That's why I said visible. It's just the first step..

I doubt he will get any endorsement until he plays at a great level again. He's not Melo who can be a scrub in last 3 years and still sells shoes, he needs to be on court again.
