Also, we would have so many picks we could throw one away on a subpar Bronny just to have LeBron come play with us for a couple seasons.

    Profit.

Do y’all think the spurs sign guys tomorrow with the intention of trading them at the deadline like we did with Forbes and Thad Young this past season?
    They'll probably sign Forbes again

I thought it was reported that he was only guaranteed to $11M so Atl could stay out of the tax..
There are conflicting reports on that…there have been reports of 11-13M but I also saw several that reported he was now fully guaranteed.

If we acquired Lakers picks and got Charlotte's pick protection removed plus another first for Jakob, I honestly don't know how this team couldn't be a major power player in the NBA within 3-4 years. I mean we would be more stocked on first round draft picks, options, swaps, and second round draft picks than maybe any team ever. I recall Memphis had a bunch at one point and obviously OJC, but I think this scenario tops both of them.

Then imagine we actually get the first pick next year on our own and get Wembanyama.

Holy ...we ringing for a decade plus.
Have you not paid attention to the Thunder the last few years? They still have over 17 draft picks the next five years, not even mentioning pick swaps.

What's your thinking on this Chinook? Play the OKC game? Stay relevant in draft picks as long as possible?
I think they want 2023 picks, and they don't want to spend cap space when they wouldn't need to to complete the deal. They're definitely playing the asset-collection game, though I'm hoping for an NOP style rebuild rather than a LAL style.

Spurs should absolutely be looking to either take bad deals for picks and/or sign any good FA that has value to flip for draft capital a la GS with DLO

Lol, perhaps you should keep up. We have 23 over the next 6 without what we might get, WHICH WAS THE POINT OF MY POST by adding Westbrook (at least two more FRPs, AND whatever we can get for Poeltl. So, youre looking at 27 to 28 picks most likely over the next 6 years.

    Care to revisit your statement??

What type of other assets? And you sure on the cap space? Ive seen conflicting reports that trade wont be done until July 6th now since gallo fully guaranteed…
I'm not sure, since I don't see a real indication it was called in. But it would be hard for me to see why SA wouldn't care about giving Gallo $10 Million more. I could see ATL wanting to wait to potentially draw this into a bigger deal to get like Capela, but it would be weird for SA to let them do that for free.

We might not heard the last from this trade then.

Robz is talking about first-round picks. The Spurs have 11 off the top of my head: all of their own plus CHA 23, CHI25, ATL 25 and ATL 27.

I think more likely is SA completely caved and didnt get OO AND took Gallo’s fully guaranteed deal since they were so enamored with the picks. I’m 75% confidence in this.

Right. And in my original post I referenced the total ac ulation. From what im seeing, theyre at 22 picks total over the next 6 years, and I don't think that is showing the reduction in the three FRPs they just gave up for Dieng if I'm reading it correctly. So my point stands, we have a ton of picks and Im wondering if it even surpasses the sickening quan y that OKC had?

Plus I'm thinking we would have at least 3 more FRPs, conservatively, by potentially trading for Westbrookand dealing Poeltl, which seems like a guarantee at this point.

So that we would both have 14 or so FRPS over the next 6 years. We would have and additional upwards of 13 SRPs, pkus a few pick swaps mixed in.

We have so many picks that were they kept (of course they wont be, lol), we could literally cycle in 5 more new, entirely fresh lineups over that period, were the Spurs so inclined.the next

    Before this year's draft:

The Oklahoma City Thunder have one of the largest assembled treasure troves of NBA Draft picks in league history.
The Thunder own a remarkable 38 picks over the next drafts years. They own 19 first and 19 second round picks.

any ideas on unwanted contracts SA can take back from teams in exchange for draft assets? spurs may as well sell that cap space and load up

You can only trade picks seven years in advance iirc, but they'll have the means to trade for more if they wanna keep on this path (no way SGA wants to stay a part of this for much longer).
