Getting back to ratings talk....is there anyone out there who doesn't think a Suns vs. Celtics matchup would be great for the league?

Nash and Garnett. Both MVPs. Both players who never back down from a challenge and play with tons of heart. Both going after that elusive championship.

What a story it will be.

    Go Suns!
I had to recheck the post count to make sure this wasn't the parody da_suns_fan. Nope, it's the real thing.

I think a Lakers vs. Celtics would be better for the league.
Probably, but I think Kobe and the Lakers have lost some of their magic....and people love Nash.

    Wow....I hope it happens.

    Go Suns.

You guys wanted to talk about ratings....now youre getting upset?

A marquee matchup of Suns and Celtics would be great for the league.

There's no denying that. Its a FACT. And looking at the current status of the league, I'd say we should all be praying that it happens.

Let it go man, you lost this one. If you really believe this, then we should just remove the word "farther" from the dictionary all together. If the Suns didn't get "farther" than the Mavs last year, then there is no use for this word in the English language.
Advancing one more round does not mean anything. the Cavaliers made it farther than the Suns, so I guess they are a much better team than the Suns, are they not? According to your logic anyways...

The fact is, there are always different cir stances that face all teams, but if you don't win a championship, nothing else matters, other than the fact that you lost, and need to improve next year in order to win it all.

The point that you can't seem to grasp is that it's a meaningless distinction. Both teams came up way short of their goals. It's kind of like bragging that you're friend is bald, fat and stupid while you're only bald and fat. The "stupid" part is a subjective judgment, just like the assessment of how "embarassing" it was for the Mavs to lose in the way they did. At the end of the day, both the Mavs and Suns are bald and fat losers compared to the Spurs.

I'd like to hear an argument though on how the Suns are going to beat the Spurs this year, or how Grant Hill is going to hold up playing 40 minutes per game already in November, or how the Suns plan to guard opposing bigs that doesn't involve Sean Marks or Brian Skinner, etc. Both teams have their question marks and have earned their doubters. If you want to keep arguing that the Suns are the better "runner up," it just shows you're happy with ratings and second-place. There are four elite teams in the League now with the emergence of Boston. You're just drawing meaningless distinctions between two of those four teams.

I would never say that the Cavs didn't get farther than the Suns last year.

They did. I agree that this doesn't mean that the Cavs are better than Suns, but you claimed the Suns didn't get farther than the Mavs, which is a flat out lie.

I agree, it would be great for the league. But before praying for such a finals, you need to pray that your team plays defense and rebounds the basketball better, because the way that they are playing defense and rebounding, KG will average 50/30 a night, on their way to a sweep and the franchise's 17th championship.

Come on FinDog. Two of these four teams provide outstanding basketball. The other two slow the game down to a crawl.

    This is undeniable FACT:

Maybe something in the Texas water forces the Spurs, Mavs and Rockets to play slow.

In the finals? Maybe, just maybe. Since you're referring to a future event, that argument is still mostly based on opinion and conjecture.

See above. Conjecture, not fact. You might wanna read up on the definitions of those two words first.

Amare definatley needs to get back into shape...but he looked much better last night. So did all the Suns (except Nash who had an off game after playing as good as we've seen him the past week).

The Celtics are on a mission right now and are killing the East, but I think the Suns would come out on top. Just too much talent.

Obviously, you didn't read my initial post, or the rest of my posts all the way through, as when I was talking about getting farther, I was referring to their ultimate outcomes, of not winning a le. I think any poster on this forum would agree with what I was talking about, even that dumb face DannyB.

If you live in Boston or Phoenix. That's also assuming Boston comes out of the East, Detroit and Chicago will ultimately have something to say about that.

San Antonio/Boston, Houston/Boston, Dallas/Boston would all be compelling matchups as well for different reasons. KG vs Duncan, finally settle the debate on whether KG is Duncan's equal. Ming/McGrady/Garnett/Pierce/Allen, one of those teams overcoming heartbreak and failure. Same thing with Dallas vs Boston, and those series would be entertaining basketball as well. And if you think SAS/BOS would be boring basketball, that guy you suck off constantly disagrees:

Myth No. 4: The Spurs aren't fun to watch.

Not true. Maybe they aren't that likable, and maybe the flopping and eye-rolling and constant ing isn't defensible ... but if you can't rally around Duncan's all-around brilliance, Parker's uncanny ability to score in the paint, Ginobili's penchant for rising to the moment, their superb role players and the obvious affection these guys have for each other (as well as their coach), then I don't know what to tell you. Their fast breaks are great. Their slash-and-kick game is great. Duncan's low-post play and footwork isn't just great, it's unparalleled right now. Their spacing is great, their rotations are great, even their flopping is great. Their outside shooting is good enough that they're averaging 39 percent for 3s in the playoffs ... as a team.

Maybe the 2001 Lakers had a higher ceiling because of the Shaq-Kobe combo, but the '07 Spurs are the most brutally efficient group in recent years. Their closeout game against Utah was straight out of the '80s, back when dominant teams won the first two at home, split Games 3 and 4, then sent their opponents packing with a Game 5 butt-whupping. It was nice to see a killer team taking care of business again. Reminded me of the good old days.

Well, you consider the Spurs and Mavs to play a boring style of basketball, I'm guessing Josh Howard, Dirk Nowitzki, Jet Terry, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and the greatest power forward who ever played the game are boring. Silly me. I'd rather watch the Suns dunk a bunch of the Bobcats and run up the score.

Please. There is no scenario that would make a Spurs series "interesting". The Rockets and Mavericks can't even get out of the first round. Im pretty sure we won't see them in the finals.

Nope. Its Suns and Celtics in 08. The series that brought basketball back from the dead (see ratings).

    Go Suns.
