And yeah , if you think Ingram and Kuz are actually good pieces, both those guys would be a phone call away from now until the trade deadline.
Agreed. But Ingram + Kuz + taking on bad contracts or getting Ball (again, maybe not the player but assets from a trade for him) might not be.

Kawhi owes S.A. jack tbh. And in the words of William Munny, "deserves got nothing to do with it".
    Great movie.

Are you saying Kawhi is about to a fire a shotgun into RC's face? "I'll see you in ."

    "Yeah."

The option is to wait out free agency and re-evaluate the market rather than trading him while the market is terrible. You really think Kuzma + Ingram won't be there in 2-3 weeks? The trade offers can't get any worse than they are now. I don't know why you're so eager to make moves based on Magic's timeline and LeBron's timeline. Buford's job isn't to build a super team in LA, that's Magic's job. If Magic can flip Ball for a great asset the Spurs really want then maybe it's enough to forget about Boston and Philly. But as of now there isn't much reason to do something so early.
Yeah, if they weren't going to make a deal at the draft they have no reason to act now unless they somehow get a trade close to equal value.

I wouldn't go that far. If LeBron stays in Cleveland it could very well end up the Lakers make the best offer. But if they do that re ed trade now there is no point in being a Spurs fan, since they'll never be good again if they're doing something so incompetent as handing Leonard to LA when free agency could completely change the trade market for Kawhi.
Yeah, the only possible scenario by which I could even remotely see them doing this is:

1....if they think they are crippling the Lakers ability to ring by what they are extracting from them to get Leonard.
2....if they truly think Kawhi is merely held together with tape and spit and will eventually fall apart before helping them ring.
    3....both.

Otherwise, there's no forgivable sane or responsible reason to do this, especially BEFORE LeBron and PG make a choice.

I hope like I'm reading the tea leafs on this properly. I do not want to have to hate PATFO on top of Kawhi. And the thing that gives me an ample amount of cer ude that I'm good to not worry is that the Woj, Shelbourne article states the offer will have to be substantial.

    Getting NOT ed.

Empty-handed or not, that's the point.

If we show the tendency to get run ragged and headless over one diva, we become just like any other franchise.

It really doesn't take all that much to get into the playoffs (as this past season attests). Even if we get nothing out of this Kawhi situation besides intact dignity, we will have AT LEAST that, and we'll still be a playoff team that isn't going to beat the Warriors.

Being aloof, sharp, and methodical and keeping the wizard behind the curtain is the most important thing by far.

a Kawhi. That's what the draft is for. We simply continue to try to pick character guys that can grow to fill our needs and move on.

You know what it gets them Puto? It gets them ing dignity. It sends the message that signing a contract in SA means something. It means that if you want out your not getting your way by way of trade and strong arm tactics. Kawhi may get what he wants in 2019. But at least the spurs him raw and he has to walk to LA more bow legged than Danny green after a bull ride.
Agreed it's like being at the club and seeing all the hot girls are taken but you see some fat ugly girls that are still available. In that scenario its better to go home alone versus waking up with some ugly fat in the morning. I feel some spur fans have beer goggles for the crap the Lakers are offering just like some guys have beer goggles when it comes to the fat girl at the club.

Better than having to be reminded over and over that the Spurs conceded and traded their Star to the biggest rival. THAT !

There's really no reason to rush things..despite what the media is saying, there's more pressure on the Lakers to make a deal the longer this plays out..

Ingram and Kuzma are not worth the Spurs blowing their loads over and making a deal in a rush, not even close at least try to get LA to flip Lonzo for a high lottery pick, there are definitely teams that will be enamored with the idea of getting a player with Jason Kidd potential(which doesn't work in today's game, but some of these GMs and fans are still stuck in 2003), despite Lavar's presence..

PG is overrated in my eyes. Kawhi is the second best player in the league when healthy.
So what? Pacers won the trade. That's the point.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single fan excited for SA to rush and trade for just Ingram and Kuz. I think universally at a minimium people want Ball or the assets he would bring in another deal.

Unless that pick is unprotected and coming from a lottery bound team, it's useless.
