couldn't a bot just copy and paste the stuff from R/TheDonald onto here Chris? then you could be freed up to do more advanced things like figure out how soon netflix will be out of business
time management bud..time management
I've got a ton of housework to do, and I'm not using up my precious weekend time looking up something that he could easily post. And unlike others, I'm not going to comment without seeing what criteria they're using. What kind of le is "How much each family or taxpayer gains or loses" - imo, big difference between family and taxpayer - like how many kids, is it 2 adults or one wage earner w/kids?
This is an example of a pot calling a kettle a pot.
Also, the first pot is an idiot.
^ then proceeds to build a wall of worthless memes
To be fair, while totally random, that might be the best run of them he's had.
its right there at the bottom of the chart.
geez
speaking of fake... the idea of US being more taxed than other nations is quite hilarious... if you ever work for an international company in finance you know as everybody knows that US before this tax cut is, outside tax heavens, one of the most favourable for people and companies in terms of tax. Compare effective tax rate of US companies to any European companies
![]()
A car in US costs like 30 % lower than in Europe same goes for gas, electronics, clothing etc... anything mostly because of tax burden. On a side note I'm all for a massive tax cut, gonna increase consumption of chinese and european products
Short term it's gonna boost US economy, long term its probably gonna create inflation, interests rate increase... and eventually the bill will come. next US generation is pretty much ed![]()
also I lived in US and I never paid so little tax in my entire life... at first I thought it was a joke... I also love the if you spend time outside US for business more than x% of your time you can deduct dat from your taxes...
got to love some US tax system tbh
Nope - the chart is NOT from CBO. That chart is PBS's interpretation (which I trust about as much as I did that Forbes article) of another CBO chart. Haven't had time to deeply delve into them.
The CBO report, which came out Sunday, was unusual because it does not just look at the Senate bill’s impact on people’s taxes. It also analyzes spending cuts the GOP tax plan would trigger, and how those cuts would affect the rich and poor. (more CBO's estimates - guesses, I call them)
As you will see, our analysis of the new data shows the Senate Republicans’ bill would move resources away from lower-income Americans and toward upper and upper-middle class Americans.

https://www.cbo.gov/system/files/115...dationssfc.pdf (I assume PBS is basing their chart on CBO's totally different chart page 10).

GOP donors wanted to buy out Trump after ‘Access Hollywood’ — but were told price was $800 million
Top Republican donors sought to buy out Donald Trump from the presidential campaign after the “Access Hollywood” tape — but the cost proved to be too high.
According to an Atlantic profile of Vice President Mike Pence, a small group of GOP billionaires asked a Trump associate how much money the former reality TV star would require to walk away from the campaign.
The associate told them Trump would need at least $800 million to end his campaign, according to a person with knowledge of the talks.

Mike Pence’s wife finds Trump ‘reprehensible’ and ‘totally vile’: ex-campaign aide
Karen Pence, the wife of Vice President Mike Pence, found herself completely horrified when she watched Donald Trump’s infamous “Access Hollywood” tape in which he bragged about grabbing women’s genitals.
In fact, according to a profile of Vice President Pence written by The Atlantic’s McKay Coppins,
Karen Pence wanted to see her husband take over the Republican Party’s nomination for the presidency in the wake of the “Access Hollywood” tape, and
it wasn’t just due to political opportunism.
“She finds him reprehensible—just totally vile,” one ex-campaign aide told Coppins.
Coppins reveals that the Republican Party was working on ways to make Pence its nominee shortly after the “Access Hollywood” tape came out, and
had even started batting around the idea of drafting former Bush Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice to be his running mate.

The Congressional budget office is not "the media". They are career statisticians whose job it is to figure this stuff out. Now, MAYBE their math is wrong and you are right, but I'm not going to vote for repubs pushing a trillion dollar deficit hike so people like myself can maybe get a tax cut whereas the Paris Hiltons of the world are guaranteed to see a huge windfall.
My response (post #5762) refers to your comment (post #5761) about a Forbes article that Pavlov posted:
The one from PBS with CBO listed as the source comes later from Splits (post #5770).
If the median US single filer wants to believe above false article and pay over 19% more tax under our current plan, so be it. And if you want to believe the CBO (which was off [22 million instead of actual 10.4 million] by a magnitude of 111% in Obamacare exchange enrollment estimate), go ahead.
