Ingram will be a star (possibly a superstar) and much better than Tatum or Brown, and I'm still not trading with the lakers
This guy is acting every bit like a mental shut-in. No word through a representative, no media availability, no (or barely) correspondence with teammates; his coach and mentor is straining to get him on a one-one-one meeting..
We have seen enough from this dude to conclude that you can't trust him with the franchise going forward. I'm really not going to feel the loss, just don't deliver him to the Lakers..
Ingram will be a star (possibly a superstar) and much better than Tatum or Brown, and I'm still not trading with the lakers
I agree about Ingram having a higher ceiling than Brown for sure. I hate the Lakers but I wouldn't mind giving them potentially damaged goods for somebody with that much upside.
Hot offseason......
Volcano watch!!!
I think Kyrie, Walker, Brown, Murray, Gay, Lamarcus and one more star have a fighting chance against the Warriors........
Just my humble opinion, hehe
Talent trumps everything, but this is also a cautionary tale that you still can't do without personality/character in team sports.
While I'm sure they knew more stuff about Leonard than we did, I still think Pop and co. got caught off-guard by his act like almost everyone here. Hopefully they stop thinking there is another Duncan to be found..
It’s not like spurs are gonna miss the playoffs next season. with Ingram and kuzma you guys have a good chance of going all the way
I really hope the Spurs don't trade Kawhi to the Lakers (or anyone) no matter how good their offer is. You have him under contract for one more year. Play out the season and give him the supermax next summer if he's proven his worth. Otherwise, trade him in February.
Come on Philly, make that deal!
Would rather have Kawhi benched for another year and him losing all the money and build more doubts about him, than trade him to the freaking Lakers. Haven't we all learned that Lakers players vastly underperform when traded on another team. I want no part of those fake hype LA "future star" players.
I heard the Spurs are going to add a psychiatrist to the Spurs medical staff.
don't put salt on the wound please.
Spurs may end up trading Leonard to the Lakers but there is nobody they’ll get that in the long run will make a difference, maybe a few pieces to make the Spurs first round playoff fodder and ultimately require unreasonable cap space to retain. In the meantime I’ll have to put up with parasitic sheit eating Laker’s fan and outlets like ESPN fawning over the Lakers. Not worth it. Screw the Lakers and trading Leonard to them. Let him go the 2019 signing route if he wants.
That lottery pick for Ball became a lot less useful for the Spurs once the draft passed and it became impossible to know where that pick would fall. Lakers squandered an opportunity there
Agree here unless you are extremely high on a player you’re taking back and think he can develop into an All Star (see Oladipo last year, though I wasn’t that high on him he proved me wrong).
These players will otherwise just clog up cap space in a few years at a rate where you can just sign players in FA. That’s why the draft pick route is more enticing - (1) more years of cost control, (2) full decision over which players you take, (3) your own draft pick becomes better in the process with some self-imposed tanking instead of trying to stay afloat at a time the Warriors have a super team. Might as well wait it out 2-3 years.
Sounds a lot less certain to me than ESPN wants.
Also funny that 4 other teams have made offers, but ESPN only wants to talk about LA. Bias so obvious.
Popovich has always been in a short term mindset building with Duncan, Manu and Parker. Now when he needs to be in a longer term building mode I don’t think he’s capable of it. I think he’s always in a field the most compe ive team for this year mindset.
As an aside, Woj has clearly lost credibility throughout this Kawhi a saga. He's been fully incorporated into the ESPN machine. His reporting of late has been almost transparently cheering the Kawhi-to-Lakers move..
So "if," big "if" Kawhi stays and re-signs with the Spurs what do Spurs do to compete with the Warriors? Trade Gasol or Mills? What free agents do they go after? Do they re-sign Parker?
Pray that Lonnie Walker is this years Donovan Mitc .
David Griffin just now on NBA radio thinks this LA talk is a ruse. Way for Spurs to up the ante from other teams who want Kwahi, more specifically, Philly.
Maybe if the reports like the Lakers offering half their team and trying to get 1st rounders are out there, Philly/Boston ups the trade package? If there was a package including Kyrie/Brown, I'd take that.
Wonder if Leonard would sign a contract with Boston or Philly with a player option after 2 yrs.
