Where did this idea come from that Mason whined? If Pop's track record is anything to go by, I can pretty much guarantee that the Spurs would have gotten rid of him at just about any cost if he'd done anything approaching whining.
so will he start playing for a contract now or just phone it in like he has been all season so far?
Mason is a little sensitive perhaps, but he's worked hard, played out of position, tried to improve his game...and got stuck behind Finley and Bogans. He's in a contract year. This is his last "big" contract. A lockout is looming. The smart move is to get traded to where he has a better chance to play. Seems pretty logical. This team isn't doing this year and the Spurs clearly don't want him.

Mason, go sign with Washington in the offseason and take Bogans with you. Play in your hometown.
The big picture about Mason is that he's a wilting flower, incapable of taking advantage of the opportunities that are presented to him.
I can't wait to see him gone.
