On June 15, 2013, according to authorities and trial testimony, Couch was witnessed on surveillance video stealing two cases of beer from a Walmart store, driving with seven passengers in his father's Ford F-350 pickup truck, and speeding (70 MPH in a designated 40 MPH zone).

Three hours after the incident, he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.24, three times the legal limit for adult drivers in Texas. Couch also tested positive for Valium.

Approximately an hour after the beer theft, Couch was driving his father's truck at 70 MPH on a dark, rural road where motorist Breanna Mitc 's sport utility vehicle had stalled.

Hollie Boyles and her daughter Shelby, who lived nearby, had come out to help her, as had passing youth minister Brian Jennings.

Couch's truck swerved off the road and into Mitc 's car, then plowed into Jennings' parked car, which in turn hit an oncoming Volkswagen Beetle. The truck then flipped over and hit a tree.

Mitc , Jennings, and both Hollie and Shelby Boyles were killed, while Couch and his seven teen passengers (none wearing seat belts) survived, as did the two children in Jennings' car and the two people in the Volkswagen.

Got it? Teen steals beer, gets hopped up on valium, then goes on to kill four people. And what did he get? Probation.

Michael Brown steals some cigars, kills no one, and gets murdered by police.

no...but it wouldn't be a stretch for a group of rednecks to march with their guns out to meet them.
There are plenty of people (black and white) who are ready and just dying to get our there and go at it.

I don't see a problem with the Huey Newton gun club talking to business owners about protecting their property. More power to them. Too bad the looters in Ferguson didn't get met by the Huey Newton gun club. Dumb ass rioters were trashing and looting black owned businesses too...

Although I did have to LOL @ the cheap ass SKS's.

meh. Most of us rednecks have better guns and know how to use them if necessary. I have guns I can do head shots at 500 yards if it ever comes to that.

You are absolutely right. I'm not going out of my way looking for trouble and would only respond with deadly force if I or my extended family were being threatened.

The case is so over the top as presented so far it seems like there must be more.
    Seems...
    This was early on.

When it was presented as a cop telling a big black guy to get out of the street, and then shooting him six times when he was trying to surrender, arms raised.

I still want to know if Brown's body was in the street for 4 hrs after he was shot. I know they need to keep a crime scene clean, but 4 hrs in extreme heat? What the heck... Still have no answer to this claim.

There's a lot we don't know yet (including the extent of the alleged injury to the officer), so it's difficult to give you a concise answer. When this started it was that "the kid was trying to grab the cop's gun" and "struggle through the car window". Then we learned (and this we know for a fact due to the autopsies) that the kid was actually shot from a relatively long distance. So now we get the tweaked story that the kid was lunging at the cop.

It's fairly clear that depending who you talk to and which "side" they've taken on this (if they have), that you're going to get all sorts of hypothesis.

My main concern based on what we know (that he was shot from a relatively long distance) is that the cop might have had non-lethal options, but decided instead to go to the last resort (for whatever reason, including but not limited to: kid is a thug, kid is black, kid is too big, I'm scared of this dude, how he dare attacking me, ouch my face, etc). I'm concerned that any cop that might feel threatened, even by a completely unarmed person, can just decide to gun that person down and now has a get out of jail free card. Cops largely get the benefit of the doubt (you can see a lot of that in this very thread), but at some point there has to be a line they can't cross without some heavy accountability.

Maybe facts will show he was completely justified in what he did, and that's fine with me.

The real pisser here is that not only we don't know much due to the police taking a long ass time (apparently protecting their guy), now we get all this 'unnamed sources' from BOTH sides spreading bull , and that just makes me more skeptic. On a relatively clear cut case, you don't need to spread BS, the facts ultimately will back you up. This is compounded by the unsolicited release of the character assassination video. A video that I have no doubt has value in a potential trial, where character assassinations are commonplace, but only added fuel to the fire.
    tl;dr

    jk

actually my biggest issues with this whole thing have been the a)militarization of the police force and b)media manipulation (per par). Police state is probably my biggest concern as a citizen so i didn't like seeing the initial images coming out of this debacle. As for the media, they are the biggest pieces of imo. I don't think this case was ever about race, but the media sure made it that way, same with Tawana Brawley, Zimmerman, Duke Lacrosse etc....It would be nice if the media actually went after those at the top, especially since the current administration is so corrupt, but they are bought and paid for.

I still think if a cop pulls his gun on you, tells you to freeze or else....then it's best to not bumrush the cop. the robdiaz point of view is he should've tossed the gun into the gutter and duked it out, but he has to be a troll account.

I do think the facts have been manipulated or mishandled by all sides, especially the media. That's why i disagree with you on releasing that video, to me it's perfectly pertinent since it shows what kind of piece of he was, or his state of mind, before ing with a cop. before they released that, the media already casted Brown in the Blind Side prequel.

He repeatedly came at them with a knife after being told to drop it. He sealed his fate with his stupidity. I'm guessing the Mike Brown situation played out very much the same.

Sorry, but being a piece of doesn't automatically means you're to be gunned down*. We supposedly have a justice system. The video was a PR move, and I'm not even sure it worked the way they wanted to.
I'm in agreement about the dislike for the militarization of the police, and the implied cronyism involved in that. I mean, they allegedly didn't have money to install the dash cam, but they have money to load up on military gear??? come on, son.

    this happened yesterday in missouri

PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. — Authorities with the Platte County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri Highway Patrol responded to 43 calls of a man pointing a firearm at traffic on Interstate 29 shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday. Forty-six-year-old William R. Elders Jr. of Cottonwood, Idaho was taken into custody after officers had to use a Taser to subdue him.

On Wednesday he was charged in Platte County with one count of unlawful use of a weapon, a class D felony. He’s currently being held in jail on a $35,000 cash-only bond.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office says Elders was walking along the area of southbound I-29 about a mile north of the 273 Highway exit and allegedly pointing a rifle at passing traffic. A probable cause statement says officers arrived to the scene and found Elders with a shouldered rifle pointing it down the interstate. A deputy said Elders began a scanning motion and pointed the muzzle at a passing vehicle before he was subdued.

He was then taken to a hospital for evaluation and was later booked into the Platte County Jail. Officers said they recovered the rifle at the scene.

A check of court records in Idaho only show misdemeanor infractions where twice he was found guilty of failing to provide a driver’s license or proof of insurance and once where he was found guilty of disturbing the peace. Online records don’t show when he’s due in court to appear for the charge filed against him Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office says it doesn’t have any evidence that indicates Elders actually fired the rifle at anyone. While the investigation continues, if you witnessed Elders in the act before police arrived or know anything about the incident, you’re urged to call (816) 858-3521.

doesn't mean he deserves to be gunned down, but if he's willing to straight jack and then assault the owner, it's not unreasonable to think he would go bout it bout it with a cop. I'd have problems if they released video of him from high school, smoking a blunt and talking about white people. That might be relevant in a court but not during a riot. But this video was literally right before his demise, so to me it shows his state of mind. I really don't understand the liberal outcry on this one. I also don't think it inflamed the protests alone, considering Obama's crew is out there as agents provocateur, so it's really hard to say what is responsible for looting and rioting. IMO, they don't release that video if the media didn't make him out to be a gentle giant.

like i said, this whole thing is being exploited by various parties, which is sad but that's how it is these days. Funny how Holder will show up for this but not for the border....unless to arm the cartels with weapons.

agree about the dash cam, though it's possible that will be released in time and makes Wilson look even better. or maybe he's like "get your coon ass out of the street" before the fight.
