What percent of Mets fans who were chanting for Harvey to stay in the game will now call for Collins' head for actually staying with him?

I'm baffled by how many people didn't want to see their closer in the ninth with a 2-0 lead facing elimination.

Hosmer's decision to run in the 9th was ballsy, particularly because he probably should have been out. But that ballsy decision should end up being a huge reason why the Royals will have a parade next week. It typifies the way the club plays -- relentless, mostly fundamentally sound, and willing to take reasonable risks to push the game when warranted.

The Royals have been the best team in this postseason and they've been historically great (both at bat and in the field) after the 7th inning of their games this postseason. If they hold on, they will be deserving champions.

Yost would have easily brought in Wade Davis in that situation. No matter what.

Grady Little is relieved to no longer be the manager who most recently bungled a postseason game in New York with a horrific decision to trust a starting pitcher.

That's exactly what I thought of. But I was even more surprised tonight with how unanimously the fans and announcers felt about leaving him in. I believe the words "He had no choice" were uttered. That's ludicrous.

To be fair, Familia has had some huge problems in this series, while Davis has not, so the comparison -- while not ridiculous -- is not apples-to-apples. Still, Collins should have recognized that completing the win was paramount and that even through Familia's struggles, having him fresh is probably more likely to stifle that part of the Royals' order than a tiring Harvey.

It's kind of ironic that in a season where some urged that Harvey should be shut down, the fatal blow to the Mets basically came from allowing him to keep pitching.

Thanks guys. More of a relieved feeling after getting so close last season. The pain of Game 7 and Bumgarner is finally gone.

It's crazy to think that there was a legit case to be made that Dayton Moore deserved to be fired just two short years ago:

I'm not a Royals fan, but I grew up idolizing George Brett, spent plenty of time watching their great teams in the 70's, and rooted for them in the 1980 ALCS and World Series (and in 1985, too). I've got a soft spot for the franchise after all the years of losing there; it's good for baseball when the teams in places like Pittsburgh and Kansas City have a chance to win. The Royals have built this club the right way and, as a bonus, they're fun to watch and seem pretty easy to like.

Glad to see them win for the little guys who have to play the long game by drafting well and developing players to have a chance.

Writer was shortsighted. Not striking out/moving the line/speed on the basepaths/deep bullpen/great fielding has always won in the playoffs.

Cool watching pitching/defense/timely hitting win again.

Cool watching a small market win again.

Cool watching a small budget win again.

Hopefully the influx of cash helps keep team together.

I too would like to see a Giants/Royals rematch.

Heartbreak in 7, redemption in 5. Though not as easy as the Spurs had it, they had the same mission.

Yes on the bolded you might want to upgrade "probably".

Congrats to the Royals. It's nice to get redemption after being so close the year before.

Something I know nothing about as a Rangers fan...
