Wow, I checked this thread this morning because I really didn't want to watch the game last night. Starting from the end and reading back, at least, it looks like I wandered onto a Mavericks board. Why aren't Mavs fans posting on their own lame board? Maybe your board, and ours, would improve if you would just go over there and leave us in peace.
Maybe because Kori runs a good board that everyone wants to be a part of. If you don't want to read Mav comments, then don't.

Mavs looked awesome last night. I don't know how you guard them. Go zone and they kill you with the open three. Cover them one-on-one, and they can blow right by you.

Mavs have more weapons, and are better from the FT line. I'm sure the Heat will pick up one or two games in Miami, but this series is done.

I really do not know how the Mavs won last night. Dirk 4-14, Howard 3-14, Stackhouse 4-11. And the Mavs won by 10????

Well, I'll take it. But I think this game was more of an aberration than an indicator of how the rest of this series will play out. I think that both teams can and will play much better before this series is over.

And, as much as I like Dirk- he showed why you'll never see me posting that he is Hall of Fame caliber- at least not yet.

I still think this will be a close series.

Even though Dirk and Josh were basically horrible, they rebounded the ball very well which we needed.

Jason Terry hit several clutch shots including the back-to-back three's that gave them the sizable 10 point lead. Missing that lay-up off the steal was embarassing, though.

Eric Dampier, IMO, had a solid game as he was able to keep Shaq at bay for most of the night and hit 3-4 shots. Adrian Griffin was also effective defensively and hit his open jumpers. Howard may not have shot well, but he was a stud on the boards.

What? Give me a break. The Heat will be lucky to beat the Mavericks twice, let alone 4 times out of 7! Everyone talks about Shaq, he is averaging freaking 20 pts a game and 10 rebounds,(17 and 7) exactly what he averaged in the regular season. Wade will give us some problems but the Mavs will keep him out shooting 18 foot jumpshots or dishing to walker/williams which is easily advantage MAVS. This is how it will play out. Mavs/Heat starters will play close, 4 or 5 points either way. Once the second team for the Mavs comes in, (Harris,Stack,Daniels,Center) they will eat the Heat's second team alive and proceed to make a lead a blowout. Riley will be forced to keep either Wade or Shaq on the floor at all times, which equals more time for Shaq to draw another foul or Wade to be worn down come the 4th quarter. Miami has zero options, flexibility or versatility. NONE. If Shaq,Wade or their role players are off for even a quarter, they're cooked because they can't hang with the Mavs offense, period. And I guess no one seems to notice that Shaq is a freaking 50% free throw shooter along with Walker's 65%. In big games, those FT's are magnafied and this will also lead to their undoing. Duncan shot VERY well from the FT line, Shaq will be lucky to shoot 60%.

Mavs in 6 only because the Heat will be playing 3 at home in a row. They are bound to win games 3 (down 0-2) and game 5 (down 1-3) since desperation and home cooking refs kicks in. But if JT is clicking with his jumper and Harris with his penetration, the in Heat will get swept.

Damn, I'm good. Look for a blowout of the Heat in game 2 since the Mavs will play MUCH better on the Offensive end once Dirk gets comfortable with his defenders and Avery makes their adjustments. Heat can't play any better than the 1st quarter and if Dirk doesn't make that bonehead inbounds play where Walker hits the 3, they are only up 5 or less going into the 2nd. 24-2 bench points, look for that to continue. Heat perimeter defense is freaking terrible, slow and mismatched, look for that to get worse. Pat Riley's adjustments? Doesn't have any, except to play Derek or Shandon Anderson, 2 more streaky shooters. Aj's adjustments? Too many to list...Ballgame.

You know, there were posts like that around here from Spurs fans after Game 1 of the semis, too. I wouldn't get too far ahead of yourself.

Don't get ahead of yourself fruitcake. This is the finals. The refs was up the wager for them to call games. Cubie won't pay = Shaq will dominate. Wade will go off again. Ball game

Do Spurs fans know what a dynasty is?

Not a putdown, just sayin' that despite winning three les a team can't truly be dubbed a dynasty until they win them in consecutive years. The Spurs haven't done that.

That said, they could've won three in a row if not for Fisher's fluke shot in game 5 in '04.

Or three in four years (repeating this year) if they didn't lose in OT this year!

I'm feeling really lucky right now, mavs played one of their worst games of the season and still somehow get the win.

Miami is not as good as either Phoenix or San Antonio. I felt like even at the beginning of the game as soon as the mavs got their together they would steamroll the Heat. The matchups are bad for the Heat. The suns actually scared me but after we beat them things would get easier. Josh Howard is not effective if he can't hit that outside jumper. Dirk will figure out how to score on Haslem.

dirk has not played all that well lately

he had that 11 point game that great 50 point game
    a very quiet 22 points
    and 16 tonight
a very quiet 22pts isn't bad considering the guy was still trying to get over food poison the night before.

No it wont be easy but this team will be a DYNASTY as long as health, chemistry, and players all stay in tact!!
Well, good luck with that. I mean hey, all that couldn't be simpler, right?

Well after we win this year and resign Terry, we will then repeat, three peat and then if the core stays in tact (which it will thanks to a GREAT owner in cuban) more les on the way. No it wont be easy but this team will be a DYNASTY as long as health, chemistry, and players all stay in tact!!

I can appreciate the enthusiasm (although I'm so sick of those pink elephants!!!) and I think the Mavs can win this one and have a great shot at another one the next couple of years but there are so many *ifs* for any team trying to win a championship that it's silly when you hear everyone talk about who will get the next one. Chemistry and players are easier to figure out than health, which is a huge factor down the stretch and can change the course of a run in one game. Also, the West is full of good teams and next year I expect the Rockets back with a healthy T-Mac, Amare to be back, Spurs to be back and in the same or better shape after some tweaking, Pistons to be back with some bench, not to mention all the other very good teams. I'm just focused on this year, too many variables to consider for next year. The only thing that is certain is that the Mavericks will be one of many viable teams for the championship next year if they stick together and stay healthy.

I love how you've won one game in the finals and you've already pencilled in Dirk ahead of Russell in the rings department.

You're saying he figured 6 or 8 would be enough?

Well, for what it's worth, the NBA ran ads during the playoffs that described a history of dynasties and the video underneath that statement was video of Tim Duncan. If the NBA's advertisements call the Tim Duncan Spurs a dynasty, that's good enough for me.

..Or if you really want something to get depressed over, a 4-peat with a few lucky breaks.

That's how perilously close the Spurs were as I'm convinced they were good enough to be NBA Champs in '04 and '06 had they gotten by the Lakers and Mavs respectively.
