    Open Letter to Brent Barry

    Brent,

I understand this must be a tough time for you. The San Antonio Spurs traded you to Seattle to retool in their quest for a repeat and fifth NBA le. It's gotta hurt. Not only did they feel they could get there without you, now they are dangling money to come back as if nothing happened. A couple girls used me the same way but that's a painful story for another day.

Don't look back Brent. There's a great story in the Bible about Sodom and Gomorra. The lone instruction given to Lot's family was don't look back. His woman took a long gander and turned to salt. The Spurs' championship chances will soon be destroyed like fire raining down from the heavens. Why not rain down a few threes and snuff out your old team in Phoenix? Don't let your game dry up and turn to salt on their bench.

Brent, Phoenix is about rebirth. Veteran players strive in our system and in our community. Our medical staff has helped Grant Hill turn his career around. His bionic ankle is no longer a burden. Shaquille O'Neal is already showing signs and he's hungry for a fifth ring. We know you still have some flash left in your game. Dude, you won the Slam Dunk le. I know you would love to get back out on the wing and take a dish from Nash for a dunk. It's in you Brent, let the monkey out.

You're an open court player Brent. You're a Pac-10 guy. You have a chance to be part of something special in Phoenix- our first championship. Your championship experience combined with Shaq's four rings will energize this team and your skills will fit right in. The Spurs don't value you. They were willing to trade you two years ago for JR Smith. Dude... JR Smith can't even get off the bench in Denver.

It's time Brent. Call up Steve Kerr and sign on the dotted line. Your future is in Phoenix. A third ring is your destiny.

    Sincerely,
    Hersey
    The Rising Suns

I heard a quote from Sean Elliott on the radio this afternoon. He was speaking at some meeting and he said that Brent will be coming back to the Spurs. He said Brent and Erin love San Antonio and are so active in the community. He also said that he and all the team were completely shocked when they heard he had been traded.

    Let's hope Sean is right!

    Ok I'm back...

First of all...I'd like to say why in the anyone would pay money to see Michael Buble is beyond me...talk about suck. Hot women were paying money to see him no less...really hot women.

    Now...

    To Chump:

It seems you have stepped out of your natural element of cap psychology and into the realm of basketball instinct...I have watched you flail in this arnea many times...spin though you do. We both know this is where you start attributing your own inability to comprehend to me, and it goes down hill from there...

So let's just leave it at...you don't understand...you seem to think you're quite clever for you inability to understand, in fact you seem to be quite pleased with your own inability to understand.

I am happy for you Enjoy it.

    To FWDT:

If I'm ever guilty, you'll be the first one I call

    To Marcus Bryant:

You hate white basketball players. Old news...anything else? Just put it in your sig rather than attempting creative ways of saying this...because you fail there.

It's your issue...stop making it mine.

Oh yeah...you've discovered Steve Kerr sucked...unfortunately you have his Bulls career to deal with...

    To timvp:

Pathetic...don't hold me accountable for the fact that you didn't challenge me on this 5 years ago...I said it when it happened. You should have stepped up and challenged me then...

The fact you think you have somehow come up with some great debate tactic by asking for proof of some obscure commercial break from 5 years after the fact, is lame.

I may not remember the exact details that lead to Duncan calling for Kerr...I don't have a photographic memory to recall commercial breaks and FTA from games 5 years ago...but I do know Duncan called for Kerr. Perhaps it was earlier in that game...perhaps it was in the previous game(which really makes no sense) but I know it happened.

You want to believe it didn't because Kerr made more 3pt in 2 minutes of play than AJ did in a 19 year career, and Duncan liked Kerr...unlike AJ, and Kerr called AJ out and punked him, and unlike AJ, the Spurs actually wanted Kerr to stay...by all means do so. Won't make you right.

You know when you brought up the Moore jersey retirment thing a few weeks ago...notice how I didn't argue that or try to spin it...even though I had mentioned no date...that's simple really, because I knew I wasn't certain of the date, and I knew I had a ty memory for those types of details...did I argue it? No I didn't. And I never do when I'm not certain. I do know on this...and you can be certain I am right....even if I can't provide the exact moment.

As for your incredibly lame point that Steve Kerr did squat because the Spurs had a lead...I find this humorous considering you have been on Devin Brown's jock for 3 years because he hit a bunch of threes in games we were being blown out by 40 in a playoff series we got our ass kicked in.

Exactly what would you have preferred Kerr did in the minutes Pop gave him? Shoot %1000?

How many threes would you have liked him to make?

Would you have liked for him to have inserted himself into those games at better moments, and you feel he sucks because he didn't? Are you really that silly?

Typical of your Pop's minutes rationing = a player sucks...weakest part of your analytical ability. Way weakest part. Gets you owned frequently too..

And you don't value the three....I get that...but I'm just going to ask you...if it's so easy to do...how come AJ never did it?

I won't even try to comprehend how you view the series we usually lost when we didn't have it(3 shooting)...by all means take it for granted...hate Tim Duncan all you want.

What AJ did is a whole lot like what you rip Barry for doing by the way...because I guarantee you he passed up more open 3threes that Barry ever has.

    Hesitant indeed...

And stop hating on Barry's dad for doing what's in the best interest of his son...even though Rick Barry is a known Spur hater...in this case he's looking out for his son.

And Brent isn't the Barry brother that really dislikes Rick BTW....at least not now he isn't.

PS: Next time you want to challenge a claim I am making...try to not wait for 5 years before asking for proof, and then claiming scoreboard because it isn't around...

That's not great arguing...that's the definition of WEAK!

And with that...I've done all the Kerr defending I want to at this time. Just try to keep your facts straight in the future...

I think many people are trying to get their minds around your contention that Kerr's 2 free throws in four seconds of play at the very end of a game made everyone shoot better from the free throw line before he played in that game.

But you don't want to explain yourself. It's magic. Shamanism. We can all enjoy that.

Simple sports psychology dude...when a team repeatedly fails in certain aspect of the game it becomes a confidence issue as much as anything else...whether it be FT's, or making baskets, or the way a team blows leads and loses games...and sometimes you just need a guy to stop the bleeding, a security blanket. A guy whose strength is everyone else weaknesses...like oh say...hitting 3 point shots or FT's. Sets the entire teams mind at ease.

You don't understand that aspect of the game...you never have, and it's been the source of a million and one arguments between us...

I could explain it till I'm blue in the face...you still wouldn't understand.

That team was a ty FT shooting team, they were prone to offensive stagnation and lost games frequently due to both reasons...

    Try harder...

I understand the concept. My question is how does it work backwards through the very fabric of time as you claim it did in this particular game.

    Please explain.

Obviously...you don't understand the concept...otherwise you'd know that my reasoning behind Kerr's insertion into the game is sound...as Steve Kerr was put in the game for the very reasons I cited earlier, whether Duncan called for it or not......

I do understand the concept. Please tell me how it made the team shoot better from the line before he was inserted into the game with 14 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Simple...if he hadn't been in there and they missed those FT's...they'd have shot worse.

    Anything else?

Hey, if all you are talking about is the last 16 seconds of every game just say so. The Spurs shot very well from the line the previous 47:44 -- well enough that Kerr's divine perfection wasn't actually necessary.

But yeah, point taken -- they won that game because Kerr his those free throws that didn't need to be hit. His work had already been done before he stepped on the court.

Then why was he put in the game?

To make the Spurs shoot better from the line the 47:44 before he was put in, of course.

If that were true, then I'd have to wait 4th in line behind Amare, Shaq, and Nash.
