Murray to Bertans, that was sick man!

best play in the SL tbh
Serious man crush! If they put him at the 4 spot an run those Matt Bonner plays, he's gonna light it up. By AS break, all that GS automatically winning will be over. I in like this dude. Bonner can groom him Teehee

If these two characters play with the kind of fire that these legend had, Spurs surprisingly have a chance.

Spurs DEATH LINEUP: Anderson, Leonard, Bertans, Aldridge, Gasol - Nobody shorter than Leonard.

yep..it's bizarre, if Kyle can become a Turkoglu and Bertans a poor man Regie Miller, it would be great

    Just comparing, ey

Ok, so we know the young Durant can score:

But Bertans......this guy can also stroke it, gentlemen:

and we all know our young archer can improve his touch under the shooting guru Engelland! So, itll be interesting how he develops.
What's funny about Durant is he was super talented at Texas and couldn't win . He was super talented at OKC and couldn't win without Westbrook.

Sasha Kaun is getting waived. Is he any good (at least for 5th big man role)?

No the 5th and 6th big men roles are reserved for Bonner and Jean-Charles. He also looks like a guy going thru a mid life crisis, just like Lorbek

no one and done guy is going to win a ncaa champ without a stack roster. Durant is better than bertans bc he is much craftier at driving and mid range. As shooters bertans looks pretty good and if Warriors keep durant as a spot up shooter then suddenly Durant and Bertans looks like a wash. I doubt Kerr is that dumb though. We'll see.

Carmelo Anthony won his freshman year and that Syracuse team wasn't stacked. He was just incredible. Durant had Augustine as a sidekick and couldn't even make it out of the second round.

Kaun blows. He cant move at all, has 0 touch on his shot, and despite his large frame he can't even back someone down.

Man our bench bigs suck. Nydoe is terrible who cares if he is seven feet if he can't play. Was really hoping that Lelane would improve but he has looked terrible in the summer league. Don't event get me started on Livio why are we wasting time on this scub? Stokes is to short and plays terrible defense. Liked the kid can't spell his name Noko? If we sign him just going to call him NoGo. This kid I like as a shot blocker rim protector add that he is the youngest of our bigs!!

I was calling for them to do exactly what GS did, to get McCaw. But after missing him, I wanted them to take a flyer on Fred Van Vleet. I think he'll make a solid backup PG, and they could have had him for next to nothing. Toronto just gave him partially-guaranteed money and invited him to camp. I wish the Spurs had done it. I don't know if any of you saw him in SL, but he kicked Kris Dunn's ass on some defensive plays. He's not flashy, but he's solid. Meh... he's also gone.

I posted on the Bonner thread, but I think the Spurs should look at getting Marcus Smart from Boston, and PG insurance. If Chip could help him with his shooting, he could be a good backup point. If Chip worked miracles with his shooting, he would be a steal.
As you said, all trades we discuss are far fetched. But why wouldn't we try to fetch Rozier rather than Smart?

I think Dedmon will surprise a lot of folks this year. I look Forward to have a big that will finish strong around the basket, run the floor, and swat somebody.

Dedmon absolutely MUST be good in all the ways you mention. Plus, he has to learn to play without committing so many fouls. He is our third true big. He's gotta come through.

He has a very replaceable skill set. Tiny shooters are a dime a dozen. A hungry young guy like Forbes might replicate him or even be better as he makes plays off the dribble and yet just bc he's unproven he's very cheap. Patty will get paid and maybe what he will cost won't be worth it. Some say in this latter stage of Manu's career a guard like Cojo who attacks the basket might have been the better fit with our bench. I believe guards who make plays off the dribble is what Pop was looking for in Dijon and Simmons. Mills is too limited to a chucker jumpshooter and it's unwise to build a bench around him with a diminished Manu or even a Manu who may retire next season. I think the Spurs are already looking a different way.
Forbes ain't replacing Patty you stupid .

You figure it out before spewing uneducated .

Rozier really stepped up his game, and looked very solid in SL. After what I saw out of him, I would LOVE to see the Spurs pick him up. Based on a couple of comments, I think he's Ainge's boy.

He's also only costing them $2M this year, and the C's have two more years on his rookie contract, including the option year. I don't see any way of making a deal work that wouldn't cripple the Spurs somewhere else.

Look, I don't think Smart puts them over the top, or anything like that. At this point, the Spurs aren't likely to be able to get an impact player. It's all about incremental improvement, and shoring up the weaker areas as best they can. Forget everything else about Tony - he's got a huge amount of mileage on him. What happens if/when he has to sit for a while with an injury? (Hopefully a minor one - no jinxes today.) I think Smart could go a long way to keeping the second team offense running. And he gets to the rim and scores just enough, and draws quite a lot of fouls for the minutes he plays.

I agree with you about what Smart brings to the table. I just think Ainge has grossly misplayed/overplayed his hand UNLESS he can pull off a deal for somebody like Westbrook. He has two teams' worth of complementary players and one teams' worth of slots to fill. He needs to make some advantageous trades to deal more than one player for one in return, or he will have to cut some of those complementary pieces if he can't find any trade partners. Bonner for Smart is a no-brainier for everybody not named Popovich.

A lot is riding on him, but I think when he is on the floor with either LA or Pau he will be fantastic. I worry about him a little when he's paired with a Kyle, Bertins, or LJC...but we will see. I think come playoff time the guy is exactly what we would need out of a third big and could possibly give us 8 and 8 in the playoffs while being a good rim protector.

I thought the same, Durant is a versatile scorer. If GSW uses him like Bertans they are fools (there's also rebounding, assists, steals and blocks, a whole other area of the game beyond the 3 point shot that Durant is better at too. When you combine it with his scoring that's an MVP).
