FORECASTER AGUIRRE/DGS
w/Katrina they were up to 85-90ft
Yes but this is just early data and forcasting... it's possible to see some 60 footers before it's over or bigger.
I'm listening to Corpus radio (KEYS) on the net and they're getting pretty serious about moving people out of the area; there's some serious concern down there and with good reason. As the strike point seems to be drifting south (now Port Lavaca) it makes Corpus as vulnerable as Galveston. (though I just heard that the storm is evidencing that northwesterly movement that has been expected)
In any event, it's good that they're starting to move people out now -- after the Bret experience in 1999, they had to seriously re-evaluate how to evacuate the city. I had to ride Bret out because there was no way for me to get out of Corpus -- no gas anywhere in the city and a drive of about 7-8 hours up to San Antonio.
How far is Port Lavaca from CC?
That's a ing joke. It's even more funny coming from you.
Question for the Hurricane Guru...with all that open water still ahead of her...could Rita's winds get to 200mph?
There are a few armchair guru's here.. It is possible to get 200mph winds... but they think it may slow to a 4 before landfall.
This thing is being pumped full of energy from the warm water in the Gulf. It's still about 85 degree water there.
Mike, I'm not saying anything is impossible at this point but I would think that it will not get there.
thank you, Guru.Mike, I'm not saying anything is impossible at this point but I would think that it will not get there.![]()
ehh ..about an hour and 20 mins......I'm not sure about the actual miles tho.
Psh. Not even close.
Jeez Manny, try to give you a compliment....damn, you are worse than a woman! :p
I hope this is a joke, or are you now working for a news group?
It was awesome. I highly recommend a cruise for a vacation.
Now time to prepare for Rita!
You know, I'm not sure. I know that Super Typhoon Tip was the strongest tropical cyclone of all time and that had winds of 190mph with a 880mb pressure. That storm was literally as big as half the contential US though.
I doubt we'll ever see anything like that in the Atlantic basin.
If it's an emergency I would think one would go ahead and pay the 1% charge and cash it at a grocery store. Otherwise go deposit it via ATM or night deposit tonight and expect it to be processed early tomorrow. Then if you are evacuating, you will go to a place where the ATMs work.
Is that the one that got Gilligan off the island?![]()
