Looks like Idalia's going to be pretty ugly
Zero rain here in San Antonio so far.
Allahu-akbar indeed, because it's this summer we've managed to become Dubai/Baghdad without catching a flight tbh.
Even when the forecast was for a weak TS to a category 1. I expected nothing less than a Cat 3 landfall. Even in an El Nino year, the +AMO (fancy words for a warm Atlantic basin) is too strong. The anticyclone in the upper troposphere above a rapidly developing Idalia will cut through the existing wind shear in the Gulf like a hot knife through butter.
Seeing 96 already at noon. Might not even get a single day in the 90s out of this front
Especially if the rain stays west of town like forecast
Damn you're lucky wherever you are Bene. We need rain like out here in SaTX.
The yard, front and back, look like a desert these days... Ugh
I don't even have much grass, it's almost all native Texas like horseherb and even it's all practically dead even in areas that get 20+ hours of shade a day.
98 at the airport at 1PM. We're going to hit 100 again
Unless we get rain before 2PM
99 officially now. Airport forecast on TWC now 100.
Storms not forecast until after 3pm here.
Yeah for use mine's been a potpourri of horseherb weed, random other weeds, crabgrass, St Augustine and Bermuda, which is the least offensive/ugly.
I don't get why the Trump mugshot avatar when you've long told us all that you're the furthest thing from a Trump supporter?
Yes, we need rain
It's going to be close. The clouds alone without rain might be enough to stave off a significant increase in temperature.
looks like 10-day forecast from TWC has gotten more bearish and now we're forecast to have less 100 degree days in the next couple weeks. A lot of 98-99
Would be nice, but I doubt it. NOAA's forecasts are more accurate and they're saying to expect 100-102 Wednesday through Sunday.
Hit 100 at the airport. Time to bump the ing thread.
That's interesting, considering NOAA is usually less bullish.
61 days including one unlikely day (today). Nice.
We'll see if it rains or not.
Yes, it's 100 here as well right now.
I'm still 99 but I hear thunder from the north. Airport is down to 72 and POURING.
I'm probably doomed in a few minutes, expect to lose power.
Idalia category 1 hurricane... 75 MPH
70 days of 100+ this year seems like a mortal lock when a cold front can't even get us under 100 in the early afternoon.
Rain seems to have subsided, and the power didn't go out this time. Not even a flicker. A positive change from the usual CPS crap...
Good news for cooler weather is that it's almost September. September is the first month of autumn, so we should get some cool days. Especially with the sun setting closer to 7PM than 9PM compared to June/July.
