This article has a very very "ignorant condescending american" feel... Nanterre is part of the whole parisian urban area, like a 10/15 minutes train ride to get into paris) and he hasn't played his last game yet. And if he can manage parisian lifestyle, he should be able to adapt to LA's one without much trouble. He wxill probably get bored in SA for all I know...
    On the contrary.

Pop is the best at that game imo

Gonna be an interesting mix. He's had guys like Killian Mbappe show up to his games and be in his circle. A massive, massive star in France, bigger than Napoleon and the Sun King, but a guy who knows how to handle himself. And then Wemby is coming to this wee little city that might as well be in the middle of Saskatchewan.
    huh?!??

He's a media and political darling, but he isn't as popular as say Zidane for ex or even other french greats.

He's amazing, super talented, driven etc everybody love that side, but he's also very fake and already vey political/PR oriented.

funny how medias can sell a diff story to the world, reminds me something...

Windhorst was on the Bill Simmons podcast yesterday offering some insights on what he's like (Windy has basically hitched his wagon to Wemby now that LeBron in his twilight years).

Some interesting tidbits about his personality tbh:
-This past year in France was basically all about prepping him for the NBA. Like essentially the entire club was built around him: who they signed, practice schedules, etc.
-Very much into fashion as a french dude
-Enjoys being in the limelight, doesn't mind running in celebrity circles (Wemby is friends with Michael Douglas for some reason )
Damn, that last one doesn't bode well with our aspirations of Wemby staying his entire career in San Antonio.

No one is going to stop me from dribbling the ball, bringing the ball up and shooting 3s. Nobody is going to stop me from doing that. Even though sometimes coaches in my career would try to stop me from doing that because they had to win right now. So it was really an everyday fight to stay true to myself, and, yeah, this is something that I'm never going to lose, for sure.
well, not a big fan of this quote to be honest. but not a big deal, the kid has confidence, as he should have. i just hope he will lean more towards tim or manu than tony from a behaviour aspect....

the french national team was already one of the best in the world without him, losing only in the finals of the Euro 2016 after a game they dominated against Portugal.

The narrative about the french soccer team being Mbappé's one is one of the more stupid thing the communication and the need for stars in soccer has produced. Mbappé is a great player and a very big weapon for the french national team, but he owes the team a lot more than the other way around.

There is a line that a developing player has to walk between developing their game and doing what is best to win right now. Wemby is committed to having a 3pt game and that’s is part of why he switched teams last year, to go somewhere with the freedom to develop that. I’m ok w the approach for now

Michael Douglas is fascinated by Wemby and as such he came a couple of times to watch Mets 92 games at Marcel Cerdan arena (the home of the Mets). That's the extent of the relationship between them, nothing more.

Surprise Sochan appearance around the 15 minute mark.
That's really a nice thing, this will remain in their mind as the first time they met, and they were already laughing. I'm sure these twos will get along just fine. And you can tell that Victor knows the Spurs' roster, cause he's surprised when he realizes that Sochan wants to ask a question in French. He knows him already.
