For sure. The only exception to that, IMO, would be if Becky was the successor. Other than that, you just have to wait until the offseason.
Returning to coach is possibly what motivates him to improve and keep going. So that's cool. Everyone needs a purpose. Just no idea, though, how he'll do. And if he's not ready, will anyone tell the emperor he's not wearing any clothes? The situation is fraught with uncertainty. Obviously, a bad situation for a team in need of structure and direction.
Coach Pop’s 76th bday today. HBD old man. Hopefully he gets a sponge bath from a hot nurse to celebrate. Would be great to have him back as we make a push for the play-in but I’m not holding my breath.
Ok so Pop only coaches a few games earlier this season, 3? He's nearly 80 years old and were already at the half way point of the season. Playoffs and play in looking unlikely.
Assume he doesn't make it back for this year yet recovers by the start of next years training camp and season? Do you see him continuing again? Would you want him to continue again? If so for how long and what would the point be?
I'm a known Pop hater thats no question around here. Just what good do you all think its doing having this old guy around but not around? Mitc trying to coach but there's this old guy in his ear telling him things? What good is it having a coach this age that isn't coaching but is sort of coaching? The end happens to everyone in any profession.
Assume Pop sits out the entire year which is seeming more and more likely. What good would it do for him to coach next year if he's healthy enough? It's only delaying the inevitable.
So does anyone think he will be here next year? Does anyone think he should be here next year? The clock is ticking. The season is half way through. Next year will be here before we know it. In the last few years a lot of decent coaches have been taken off the free agency list. Soo, what's the point him continuing? When its time its time. Eventually you gotta tap the 80 year old guy on the shoulder and say thanks but not anymore.
Honestly at this age and in this health. If he comes back its kind of like having another intermin coach, yet that coach will be nearly 80 and in bad health. Nothing good can come from continuing

I can't see Pop flying 82+ times per season as a stroke victim. Doesn't make sense.
I'm sure they will start with Pop attending some practices and see where his strength and sharpness are from there.
Becky is the right call for next season.

In all seriousness, I hope he comes back the last week of the season to coach a few games and then goes out waiving to the crowd in the tunnel like Timmy. It was an epic run, but it's time to turn the page.

If he’s going to come back he needs to do it NOW.
Time to see if he has anything left in the tank rather than make us wait until next season to find out.

I'd bet if he does come back this season it is just to finish the season. Father Time waits for no one and Pop knows that as well as anyone.
