Amare was getting minutes because he was one the guys most interested in playing the game.
wow, how did you find this bit of insider information out? i would think that some of the first-timers would be the most eager to play but my bad, i didn't know that this was the case

although parker did a better job with this, kobe dished out the assists in the first quarter and it's not like amare wasn't trying to rack up the points thanks to the minutes his coach gave him...it's mostly for this last reason (d'antoni catering to his guys) that i'm glad kobe won

I don't think coach was catering to his guy's as you put it. They do know the system and they were efficient in scoring if you read my post above yours. Carmelo played twenty-five minutes and Parker and Kobe played more than Amare and Marion. When did you become such a Kobe fan and why do you seem to not like Amare? I also think he wanted to win the game.

the coach catered to small ball, only one *smaller* starter (kobe) got more minutes than any of the reserves, the other big starters got less than the bench which is kind of sad that d'antoni couldn't mix it up and do something different...the reason parker got minutes was because of his guard and ball handling abilities and if you look at the assists, kobe also had a good number of assists. i don't have any real animosity towards amare, he seems like an ok guy, although i think it sucks that he can't create his own shots a bit more. anyway, mostly i dislike d'antoni because he looks like a freakin' marionette and gesticulates way too much. i should understand, being italian and animated myself, but i don't because d'antoni looks too smug during games and yes, it pisses me off. anyway, i like nash, amare, barbosa and thomas but that's it, everyone else, especially raja and marion along with their coach irks me.

Anyone with half a brain could tell that Amare was excited and serious about the game as was Kobe and Carmelo. Josh Howard may have been eager to play but was very inefficient. He played twenty minutes and was one of three from the field for 33% shooting. Not going to get it done. He probably had the jitters since it was his first allstar game. On the other hand Carmelo (another first timer) was very efficient by shooting ten for fifteen for 66% shooting. Easy to figure out if you look at the boxscore.

Well, I guess the big guy's just either could not keep up or maybe it was because they were shooting poorly. Garnett shot 37.5% as well as T-Mac, but at least T-Mac had eleven assists. Dirk did not shoot well either at 44%. I don't think Duncan was all that interested in playing as he looked totally bored. If you watched the game closely, Amare had more than dunks, he had quite a few jumpshots. I don't think anyone created those for him. I cannot help you with your problem towards D' Antoni, I just think he is real easy going and it may seem smug to you. If anything I would think Avery Johnson's voice would get on your nerves! I understand about Raja because he is a hothead but what is your problem with Marion?

are you an idiot?...you know how many guys missed the ball several times in the first six minutes of the game?!?!?! if everyone stopped passing the ball to those guys missing multiple shots at the beginning of the game, they'd have percentages like jho...this would include amare, dirk, marion and many others. jho wasn't fed the ball quite as much because he's a first-timer, simple as that, don't be stupid and make up . unlike amare, it's not like josh had the convenience of being fed the ball right at the basket...such a homer, just forget it, keep making excuses for your team, i never brought up josh in the first place.

No, I am not an idiot. I don't think Amare determined who got the ball in the first six minutes. Actually I guess you cannot read because Carmelo and Amare were very efficient in scoring. Dirk shot 44% and took nine shots, he was given a chance to score. What are you refering to me making up? Amare was not just fed the ball at the basket, he had jumpshots also. You have to be in the right place to get the ball. Amare was not good in his first allstar game either. Maybe Howard was just nervous. I don't know what Dirks excuse was, maybe not interested. If anyone is a homer it is you. Your Mavs can do no wrong. You did bring Josh up since he is a first timer as you put it.

I know Marion is sensitive and it gets on my nerves as well. Sometimes I wish he would just shut up and play. I am not anymore of a homer than you.

Here is your first timer message. I would assume that would include Josh Howard since this was his first all star game.

I don't always make excuses for my team. They do a lot of things I really hate like not playing defense the way I would like them to and I hate the way the coach only plays so many players. Do I think they are a contender, yes but so are about four other Western teams. Doesn't make me a homer anymore than you and your Mavs.
