He's probably are only legit recruiter.
After the Spurs had their meeting with LMA in 2015, Aldridge called Green to ask him if the Spurs were the place to join. Even though Pop had pretty much told Green they were only willing to give him so much (which was way under market value), Danny still closed the deal for them.

At end of Lowe Post podcast they addressed the Gay signing. They said it was Plan C to sign him and that he won't be good the first season as he gets over his injury and he doesn't move the needle to beat GSW.

Imagine if Green were still in his 2014-2015 form. Would be a huge recruiter.

Of course we still not beat Worriers

Nobody is beating wortiers next season save a train thru the team bus

Still this signing was a no brainer

We need firepower and Gay is firepower

Now we lose to worriers 4-1 instead of getting swept

He's right but he's being Captain Obvious per par. On paper, talent for talent, nobody should beat Golden Showers.

If plan A and plan B was signing CP3 or PG, then yes...this is plan C.

But plan A and B only had like a 2% chance of happening anyways.

You realize MVPaddy has led the Olympics in scoring and has been a rotation player on elite teams, right? Forbes resume consists of one good RS game against a tanking Dallas team and a good Summer League game.

It was strange with Lowe. He's been wrong on SA for a while now (even though I like him), but in that same article/pod he said the "winners" of free agency were the teams that were patient the past two years and that had a clear path to 20+M in cap space next year. Spurs have that exact thing even with their deals they sign this year.

But then he says Spurs are basically losers this FA because they essentially stood pat by signing Gay and him not being their plan A or B.

I like Lowe, too, but all his Spurs-related predictions have been horrible since 2013, positive and negative

He has no ties with them, he guesses harder with the Spurs than with almost any other team. It's easy to spot what's going on there.

I think that cap space will be good. Also hope we hit on one of our last 4 first rounders. Right now they are eh, but if one becomes a legit player, it will be huge.

capitalizing doesn't change context nearly as much as a comma does.

    go back to school.

Ya - with Rudy it's a catch 22. If he does great and SA has success, he obviously opts out for much of that. But that is a good problem to have.

If he does poor, he probably stays and that eats into it but even then SA should have a clear path to at least replace LMA if he's gone with another top flight player.

There are guys who seem like cancers who totally buy in when they get to a good team. TJ Ford comes to mind. If Gay really did have the reaction RC said he did, maybe he understands it. As I've been saying, he could be looking for an Iggy pivot. We'll see. That it was only a one-year deal isn't great for that narrative.

Then again, Austin Daye screamed into his pillow like a little when SA traded for him. He thought they'd revive his career. Look where that got him. Got a ring tho.

The one-year deal doesn't say too much for me IMO - it's just good business for Rudy. Can still give SA an advantage to sign him, but he was doing SA a solid by coming at that price it looks like.
