Get them all. Doesn't matter what us poor folk think.

Out of those, I prefer the third.
My personal preference for a car would be an Escolade or a mini cooper.![]()
Your rebillious nature knows no bound. I wish I was half as cool as you.
I'm not rich, I just plan well
Teach me how to plan then. I want to get one of those cars.
I talk big game. I'll probably be sober the whole damn time. It's a Latin American Women's Literature Conference.
You talk big game huh.
Hopefully your Spanish is better than your English especially at that literature conference.
Someone's trying to get laid.
I won't even try to say anything to have thrown back at me at a later date. Everyone has already heard me ramble about how "awesome" I am at Spanish. I wouldn't be going if I wasn't able to handle it.
Or having a midlife crisis? That was mean.
*Edited because it was mean.
I'm pretty sure that's part of the plan.
Sure thing... What I did was simple, but I don't know of anyone else who has done it (because most people are instant gratification junkies). While I was in college at UT and graduate school I worked full time and made pretty decent money. I bought a good used car paid it off after a year and a half. At that point I had an idea - instead of going out and buying a new $20,000 car at roughly a $400 a month note (with good credit), I decided to keep driving the car I had already paid for. What I did different is this - I went ahead and made a car payment every month like if I had a new car, but instead of paying on a note this money went into a mid-yield, very liquid money market account. While in school I only put in $150 a month, but after graduation I began making more money and was able to put back $500 a month. This was in 2000 when I started the account, and have been putting back $500 a month (as if I had a new car payment) since mid 2002. Do the math - now over $30,000 in the account. With my trade in and extra cash down it's going to be higher. After I purchase the car I will continue to make the payments in the account like before and start over again. In 5 years (typical car note period) I will have over $30,000 in the account again - but this time a nice, entry level luxury vehicle for a trade in.
I basically turned the usual situation around - instead of paying a bank interest on money I borrowed from them to purchase a car I am getting interest payments from the bank to let them borrow my money while I save for the car. It's like a lease without the ballon payment and all the bull . The only difficulty is the first few years, but after your initial purchase you get to have a brand new car every 4 to 5 years and never owe a penny to anyone. Even if you can't afford the $500 payment - a $300 one will still earn you enough for a decent new car in a few years.
Hopefully... but I'm only 28 so the midlife crisis isn't here yet![]()
I'd suggest the Z4, then.
You can put the top down and future chicks lured by the flashy new magnet won't have to worry about bumping their heads.
Don't get the Z4, they are very cheap inside.
The insurance on a roadster is going to be a though. I'm gonna check to see what the difference will be...
They are, actually. I like the Audi TT, the Lexus SC430 and the Mercedes SL better for a convertible.
Also, the Boxter is tiny inside.
Insurance will probably be close to the same on all three of them.
The Z3/Z4 BMWs are crap. Everyone I know that has had one hates them. The glove box falls off, the dash cracks, anything plastic inside the car breaks. They suck.
Scratch it off your list.
Thanks... I was leaning away from that one anyway but I'm glad you mentioned it. I am also thinking about a GTO, Infinity G35 and Acura TL. I guess I just don't know what I want![]()
I like the TT's, but I am waiting for a new design. The current one has been the same for years and it resembles a VW bug too much for my tastes.
GTO is fun to drive, but isn't much more impressive in the looks department than a Pontiac Grand Am. The G35 is very nice. I'm not an Acura fan, so I've never tried the TL.
That's why I like it, actually. I drive a Beetle.
Also, I like the fact that it's very roomy inside for a roadster. Being tall and having long legs, that's a concern for me. When I went test driving the sports cars, there were a lot that I would have loved if it weren't for the fact that I couldn't fit with the top up.
I've driven all man, and I'd go with the CLK hands down. Mercedes is sooooooooooooooooo much better than anything else out there with the exception of the high end BMWs for me.
My time as a valet was fun though. If you want to have fun, I'd go with the Boxter (and if you get that car without a stick I'll ing find you and kill you) but I really think the overall best car is the CLK.
I'm seriously considering it. The 350CLK is a little more than I wanted to pay, but I might as well put a little more to get a really nice ride. Of all the designs I have seen it's the one I like the most.
edit - And I would NEVER think about getting a Boxster (or any sports car) in an automatic. I'd have to kick my own ass if I did that.
