It can be done. Barkley was on the receiving end of one of them too.

I hope you're right. If any team could do it, it would be the Spurs, but damn I hope we can get at least a 4 seed.
Yea i thought the same, they were tired last night from the Pistons game, and they almost won that game without Barry, Udoka, and Bowen guys! These guys have it in them! Cmon they almost won last night!
I totally agree with all the posts you've made in this thread tonight. This team is far from done, especially once Barry comes back and we start the playoffs.![]()
I think the '01 Lakers still won some 58 games or so. And they had role players that could actually produce.
The Spurs need to reload, they should have done it last offseason but they decided to chance it and go with what they have. It's no coincidence they are in the position they are in right now.
If Duncan, Parker, Ginobili are healthy and Bowen can still play his stifling defense, and Barry comes back healthy, I still think the Spurs have a good chance in the playoffs.
Of course, they absolutely need to make sure they get a top 4 seed before anything can happen. It's going to be hard to go through that many road series, especially considering the Spurs are something like .500 on the road this season.
Yep. I can't help but wonder if our FO took away the wrong lessons from last year's championship run.
The stand pat, bide time until the playoffs and hope we get lucky strategy.
They made a good logical decision by standing pat and making small moves/changes this time.
The reason why we haven't repeated was because they would jettison key role players and ins ute new ones to take their spots that took too long to get used to the system.
The only downside to our standing pat is that the pieces we chose to stand pat with are all 35 years old or older!
So it was basically a gamble, and unfortunately, we don't have the luxury to micromanage minutes to keep us fresh for the playoffs like we could in last year's regular season. Pop couldn't have predicted it, so it's not his fault.
If the Bench could just improve their shooting percentage to even 40 -43 % range our chances for winning will be much improved.
They have Duncan. But if you want to press the issue and make me change my answer, how bout New Orleans? I need to find the post, but I basically went through the top nine in the West. There's no team right now that is clear-cut head and shoulders above the others.
Utah is about to play 8 of 9 at home and the lone roadie is at Minny. They could get the 1 seed, and if they do, they would become my faves to come out of the West. They just don't lose in SLC.
Outside of those five
we just need three more guys to step up for a great 8 man rotation to use in the Playofs.
If you think about it we still have very solid pieces if they just play up to their abilities.
You guys really should:
Robinson - Duncan - Beasley
Korver spreads the floor for the Jazz and his absence has opened up PT for some of the athletic wings that Philly has. Win-Win.
Bet you anything Utah gets the top seed now, with what they have left on their schedule.
Reason enough for me.
Still waiting on that list of younger players they passed over this past summer they should've gone after...
Yeah, the same Sixers who are now 33-34, and 17-6 since hitting their low point on the season of 16-28. The same Sixers who have now beaten San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix and Detroit. They're not the Miami Cold.
Yeah, well we have Jamaal Magloire, the Duncan Stopper™, so you better hope you don't run into us.
People don't realize how hard it is to repeat. It's not just a matter of getting new players, etc. Every game the Spurs play, the opposing team is using as a barometer to measure themselves and see where they are. Everyone always wants to beat the defending champs...even the lottery bound teams. It's the one game every team in the league guaranteed gets up for.
Spurs getting that kind of effort from opposing teams night in and night out is going to be hard. In fact, before tonights game against the Spurs, they interviewed on the local news earlier this week the Sixers players and practically all of them said getting a victory over the defending champs would be a great boost for them.
Love the trademark.
Scola??

Duncan has said this every year after they win.
They play the entire season with a target on their backs.
The repeat is harder than getting there in the first place.
are you ing kidding me.
jesus christ, the ING 76ERS???
how much worse can things get.

Pop needs to change his coaching strategy
