No, we caused his uncle to want him to leave, and that's all it took.

Kawhi felt so disrespected by the Spurs that he wanted to get traded to LA and only LA.

    LeBron? Miami?

Call me when Load Management makes that many Finals in a row. It won't happen, though, because of the word "degenerative". Right now, as bad as it is, his quad is a good as it will ever be for the rest of his career. Each year, the tissues will break down a little more, and it will be more painful to play.
    Yup, misdiagnosis my ass.

Looks like Leonard just didn't want to be in SA or guy it out and play with pain. Clearly, he's trying to prove he can gut it out with Toronto (and is playing spectacular ball), but the injury is chronic and will only worsen.

I guess the Spurs' medical staff was right all along and the "Load Management" was Toronto trying to maximize their (possible 1 year) investment in Kawhi (and his "group" trying to pace him through another season before he can be offered the max).

Kawhi is still a great, tremendous talent but seems like he's damaged goods. I'm pissed how he left yet also happy the team isn't sinking $200+ million into a guy who'll never reach his '16 - '17 level, again.

well he does look like 2017 Kawhi in this series if you ask me. Just gotta hope he doesn't ring, leaves the Raptors and his tendon gets worse with time. Then Spurs might've dodged a bullet, but the way it looks now, this is the worst trade in franchise history

i get why people feel this way but i prefer him in toronto, whatever it takes for that to happen. if kawhi is really still this elite and stays that way going forward then i dont want him out west for any reason

the trade is over and done with. don't care about who won or lost it anymore because i think most of us have accepted the spurs are in a total hole right now because of his departure. still dont think he would have stayed here for any reason or cir stance.

I wonder how much of an effect Kawhi is going to have on the NBA going forward..he took load management to a different level, this season..looked pretty bad to start the year(by his standards) and didn't play defense all season..saved it all for the playoffs, where he's been a monster on both sides..

It'll be interesting to see if everybody takes this approach now more than ever..Silver will probably have to step in..

Force your way out if unhappy and only play when you want to play.
Don't even show up to games if you dont want to.
Thats the future for NBA stars. Kawhi, the trend setter.

kawhi is entering a new prime and you have people here clinging to 2017. how many times did kawhi approach 30 only for poop to pull him to make sure he got over himself? he’s having prime Kobe post seasons on better efficiency.....I hope he re-signs with Toronto to all over PATFO.

lol umm okay? Pop advocated that Kawhi was the best player in the NBA in 2017. Everyone was praising Harden/westbrook/Curry/Lebron but Kawhi was always left out. Only a few media members would give him praise for being a great player. But Pop flat out said he is the best player in the NBA because he plays on both sides of the ball, and plays them at a high level. Pop was not going to pull the get over yourself stuff on Kawhi. He loved him some Kawhi. He even talks praise for him during the 2014 Champions Revealed Interview.

In 2017, it was Kawhis first and ONLY playoff with the Spurs as THE main guy. It was the first year after Timmy retired. So lets see how much Pop pulled him after 30 minutes in the playoffs

    Game 1 vs Grizzlies - 32 Minutes, 32 pts
    Game 2 vs Grizzlies - 40 Minutes, 37 pts
    Game 3 vs Grizzlies - 30 Minutes, 18 pts
    Game 4 vs Grizzlies - 44 Minutes, 43 pts
    Game 5 vs Grizzlies - 39 Minutes, 28 pts
    Game 6 vs Grizzlies - 39 Minutes, 29 pts
    AVG - 37 minutes, 31 pts

Game 1 vs Rockets - 32 Minutes, 21 pts (blowout loss)
    Game 2 vs Rockets - 37 Minutes, 34 pts
    Game 3 vs Rockets - 41 Minutes, 26 pts
Game 4 vs Rockets - 29 Minutes, 16 pts (blowout loss)
Game 5 vs Rockets - 38 Minutes, 22 pts (and thats with missing OT)
Game 6 vs Rockets - DNP
    AVG - 35 minutes, 23 pts

Game 1 vs Warriors - 23 Minutes, 26 pts (would have been --> 37 minutes, 42pts) the way things were going

    The rest is history

In the games Pop needed Kawhi to play 38+ minutes, he played him. There was no saving him.

We never got to fully see a Postseason with Kawhi leading the way without an injury. 2017 would have been a special year. But Zaza ended that. Who knew it would lead to Kawhi and his group hiding from the Spurs only a few short months later during rehab.

kawhi was treated like some china doll golem beast who had to be “unleashed” Why can’t he ball out on the regular? typical pop not being able to handle black American players..

People act like Dennis Rodman didn't behave like a petulant brat and get traded to the Bulls. Where he helped them win 3 straight les when the Spurs had 0.

Contracts will become more incentive based if this leads to more of his nonsense.
