Boban isn't a post up player. He works well on the pick and roll. Just have him set a screen, roll to the basket and just lob it up for him. He will get it and finish neat and softly.
A Simmons/Boban PnR would be a decent garbage time offense.

Absolutely. This was a fun little game. Our team made Atlanta look like trash quite honestly.
Our first unit is gelling and our defense with Kawhi is just on another level.

The second unit, as much chemistry as they have and as explosive as they can be, was helter skelter with Manu today in yin/yang mode.

I am not sold on Diaw/West combo. When I see them together our team defense suffers. Our second unit had trouble defending the paint, and I think its the PnR D with Patty/West bc I have seen it other games too. It just triggers a lot of help, which opens up threes in the corner. It might look like someone overhelped or something like that, but the problem started at the point of attack. It might seem like Kyle (or Manu, or Danny, whoever) for example left a guy open at the 3 point line, but he was helping on the disaster that was the paint defense.

Obviously, Atlanta has Shcrooder in the bench, so Patty vs. Schrooder was going to be trouble.

The TO in the second unit also don't help defensively, so it was tight there.

I am thinking we are bound to see more of Simmons. He's played too well in limited minutes to not continue to get opportunities to improve, even at Anderson's expense.

Pop should try some units without Manu too and see Simmons in there. You can't completely edge Manu out bc he needs his rhythm, and I don't think you can completely edge Anderson either, for the same reason, and Pop really likes him in small ball at this point, but I think Simmons should get more chances.

    You know what?

We are so excited about Simmons, we completely forgot Ray didn't get any minutes here.

I am cautiously optimistic about Simmons. I really do not think he gets minutes at Kyle's expense. They are different tools for different applications. And as you pointed out last night, they seem to work well together, kind of boosting each other's comfort level. I like seeing those two with Kawhi.

It's is just better to throw up the ball & let Boban get the offensive rebound rather than posting him up

Concluding that someone with a negative DRPM and who ranks near the bottom for all PGs is a bad defender is being biased?

Yall sound like Kobefans now. Stats don't tell the whole story, they don't account for the Kobe sneer or the Rique tongue.
SSS, tbh.. Strangely enough, Patty Mills who's virtually a trainwreck on defense is only -.12 which would rank him 8th in the league among pgs ahead of the likes of Curry, Bledsoe, Bradley, Cojo, Westbrook and CP3. So much for DRPM having any validity at all.

I agree on this. Kyle and Simmons are not the same player, don't have the same tools and don't even play the same position.
Pop has Kyle as 3/4 hybrid.
Simmons is a 2/3 hybrid, but very strongly inclined to the 2.
And they do have a lot of chemistry together.

At this stage I see Pop giving Kyle chances because he's come through some tight games, and has been very good in small ball situations with Kawhi, allowing Kawhi to stay as a 3, therefore preserving some of their sets, and his perimeter defense. You can't completely bench Kyle when he's starting to show some confidence, and minutes for Kyle are few and far between as it is.

Manu playing the 28 minutes just should not happen at this point. I think between Manu and Danny, some minutes could go to Simmons.

Also Mills could loose some minutes specially when Pop uses Tony/Patty lineups, you could just fit Simmons in there.

... and here comes the elephant in the room....
Pop not familiar with Simmons enough to go to him at times. It would be a shame.

Saw in another thread that Becky was commanding a huddle in that 4th Q. Maybe Becky will influence him.

Of TD's 18 bards, 5 were offensive. Of LMA's 6, 3 were offensive. For the Spurs that is feasting at the offensive rim.

Spurs have our number it seems. Not too mad though. Everyone knew LMA and TD were gonna kill us on the boards. We just couldn't hit enough 3's to make up for it.

Simmons seems to be projected as a hybrid 1-2-3, a la Manu, Kyle really a 3-4, all depending on small/large ball and Opponent lineup considerations.

You linked yourself to him being a "good" defender and to FSSW by taking exception to what I said, dumb .

What is up with the coaches and now FSSW trying so hard to start this myth that Porker is a good defender?
You are a fggn blind man if you can't see he is better.

Shame on FSSW for relaying Pops quotes.
