Beverley got in his head by saying he's the best defender in the league, tbh.
More like Dennis Scott saying he could be like Paul George got him motivated to do an impersonation.

frustration comes with being a die hard fan, fam. i wear my emotions on my sleeve.
Ya - especially in a game like this where you blow a lead and really go ice cold, it's tough. SA fans hate HOU too so it's tough. This game is a loss 95/100 times and people are going to be upset, but it was an amazing win even with some what appeared to be back breaking moments at the end.

However, I like what Im seeing with this team's demeanor. They stay clam like Kawhi and just chip away and fight. Watching Danny/Patty throw flames is awesome.

Seriously Manu is a great spot-up 3-point shooter. He could become a mini-Horry and prolong his career IF he would Just resign himself to that role. But as long as he insists on doing ANYTHING more, he is a liability more times than not. Pop needs to forget the "because he's Manu Ginobili" schtick and put his foot down with the guy.

I just wonder if Kawhi has some little injury or something going on in his personal life: maybe the new baby isn't letting Kawhi get enough sleep.
I think Kawhi just had a bad game. It happens sometimes.

I am convinced by now Manu is gonna Manu. Pop can't reign him in except sitting him down and he's not going to do that.

Manu is gonna want to be himself but mind and body are not as one right now. I have though same as you he needs to spot up more but he likes the ball, he wants to do his stuff, and I think if you told him he can't be himself it's going to be time to retire. Just got to enjoy him. I suspect it's the last season. And I have a feeling that when he does retire Ill miss him same as Tim.

Not Just the TO, but they gave up over 20+ offensive boards too.

That's something the Spurs cause themselves with all the switching.

Yep, neither team played true to form. If you were handicapping a horse you would just throw out this race as totally anomalous. Glad we got the W, but honestly the only take-away from this game is what was the deal with Kawhi?!?!?!
I'm going to chalk it up as just one of those sloppy games everyone has when they aren't locked-in, LeBron had a similar type of game against the Bucks when Giannis actually also had his way on the other end. At least Kawhi was active on defense & didn't let his offensive struggles get to him.

And look, Kawhi struggled, but it wasn't effort. He gritted out his points by getting to the line, he rebounded and assisted some and had many good defensive moments when needed.

Their role players down low had big games. Nene and harrell both shot near perfect games. Very gritty win. Great call to have Mills close. Not sure I like Manu out there to close though, I know he was hot, but man he makes horrible decisions these days..

exactly. i understand being optimistic but this team makes me nervous in games like this. i haven't put my 100% trust in them like previous years and like you said, against a team like the rockets it just makes me even more anxious. it was good to see danny finally get out of his funk and i hope this is the beginning of him coming back to his 3 and D form again too. just a gritty tough win.

LMA continues his Vin Baker imitation. Leonard the bed. Manu choked.
Clutch shooting from Green and Patty.
Thanks, I really didn't want to wait for the game grades on this game in particular.

Danny Green and Patty Mills, heroes of the game. (I'd include Manu but those free throws...)

Off-topic, but the score of the Dubs-Utah game is 4-2 with 6 minutes left in the game. Both teams are a combined 2/26 from the field

I saw a different game. Kawhi looked like he didn't have much effort at all. Most of his drives ended up in backing his player up instead of getting to the rim, his shot just didn't look smooth, his close out's were atrocious.. looks like the season of being no. 1 is weighing down on him mentally tbh.

Manu did what he has always done.

    Drive us crazy.
He was part of the comeback.

The cool thing is he puts it on his shoulders and if he is , so be it. He hates to lose, he is clearly not the player he was, but some things don't change.

What I believe is obviously moot. But I wish Pop would just tell Manu that the team needs him to be a spot-up 3-point specialist and cut the rest of the heroics. We will never know how that might work out because Pop will never have that talk with Manu, and Manu will not do it on his own. We have ball handlers/playmakers, but we could use a modern-day Horry.

Interesting that Pop went with PM as PG closer.

Not only gave up. But admonished others for it.
    Note the worms.

We played really poorly. But for God's sakes. We know the rockets and I thought we knew the Spurs.
Lol me saying "Welp" was not admitting loss bud. I posted that after we came out of a timeout and gave up 4 straight easy points & then a turnover.

Sure, everybody has a bad game from time to time. But the way it was a bad game is what makes it seem different to me. I think Kawhi seemed lackadaisical/disengaged, which I don't see from him ever.
