Finally heard back from STBTC. Had it but I'm not COVIDY enough to donate plasma so just donating blood instead.

"The results for your sample reported by the lab for the minimum 1:80 er requirement set forth by the FDA has fallen below this cut-off. Covid antibodies are detected in your sample but not at a high enough er that permits a plasma collection for COVID patients."
    Interesting.

Just hope you have memory cells floating around ready.
    Bet you do.

    Wow.

In your city, the Texas Dept of health is gearing up.
They are pulling some of the brighter folks away from other areas and putting them on tracing.
This has nothing to do with ethical issues/personal infringement right now, just deciding how they are going to do it.
Hope they talk with other States.

I have no idea what our testing situation is.
Anyways, we do appear to be taking this seriously and not sitting around.
I have no idea whether this should have already been in place.

No problem getting people tested at my wife's practice last two weeks. Results within 48 hours. Only a few positives, none of her patients though. Big change from a few weeks ago when they couldn't get anybody tested.

Yeah I just saw some mention of it so I'm checking out the COVID site. I've always figured Austin/Travis County/UT would be pretty proactive with testing and tracing as could be possible but if we're an island in a sea of rube local governments that could blunt the effectiveness. The four biggest cities are going to have to lead the way.

Texas voters overwhelmingly approve of business closures, stay-at-home orders despite blow to state's economy

The poll results come as Gov. Greg Abbott prepares to announce his plans for reopening a wide range of Texas businesses.

Texas' economy is taking a catastrophic hit —

and hundreds of thousands of Texans are out of work —

as officials shutter businesses and limit some establishment's operations to stop the spread of the new coronavirus.

But while Texans' optimism about the state's economy has fallen, they largely support those measures,

Two-thirds ... agree ... to suspend nonessential business operations.

And more than three-quarters ... support orders to stay home except for essential activities.

At least Abbott broke with Trump on gyms in Phase 1. Gyms are as ridiculous a business as you could think of to be open in a pandemic other than maybe strip clubs / houses.

"coronavirus: explained" on Netflix is pretty solid and good info for general public that doesn't understand of what's happening.

One part, they showed 1918 flu comparisons between St Louis who closed quickly, flattened the curve and Philly who had a huge parade and the graph ed.

What was notable though they mentioned St Louis thought everything was cool, reopened and immediately ed, had to close again

So we're opening back up on Friday, limit on 25% capacity in most places, but we're removing the mask requirement. This is going to go well.

I'll put the over/under at three weeks that we're having to shut things down and wear masks again here in Texas.

Abbott said his new order "supersedes all local orders" saying those businesses must remain closed. He also said his order overrules any local government that wants to impose a fine or penalty for not wearing a mask — something the latest statewide rules encourage but do not mandate.

At least the larger counties have zip code maps that show you where is proved to be bad. Some of the discrepancies are jarring.
