Lol Spurs jumped from 9th in offensive efficiency to 3rd after this game.
Are the Lakers a team that the Spurs should embarrass like the Sixers?
Noticed that too. Like clockwork...pass to Simmons, Simmons drives to the basket, regardless of traffic or open teammates. It's like he is still in summer league trying to score his way on the team.
Thanks for posting that. I didn't get to see it. I liked it when the reporter said that "Boban was a crowd favorite out there", and Pop just gives him that look. Also liked Pop's comment about Brown - "He's a of a coach. It just isn't a fair contest, talent wise. It's ridiculous." For his sake, I hope the Sixers will actually do something with all these draft picks they've piled up.
Maybe you don't know it, but those guys didn't make up "Boby". That is his nickname in Europe, and has been for years. They were just repeating it. No need to beat them with a switch.
That's his strength and the Spurs need his driving ability. I love that type of player. I am happy that he is getting to the rack while also handling the ball a bit better now. That's exactly what I wanted Kawhi to do more of, but it doesn't seem like Kawhi is anywhere near the penetrator Simmons is. This team needs more of that. Getting to the rim and drawing fouls. That is a great thing IMO. He just needs to work on his defense first (to stay on the court), jumper and keep improving his ball handling. If he does all this, then I think he could be a real good player off the bench for us.
Speaking of his jumpshot - his form kinda looks different to me compared to how it looked in Summer League. I think he's been working on his jumper with Chip as I think his form looks a little better. Hopefully Chip can help him become a decent shooter.
Yup, he was driving in traffic and picking up the fouls. He took 8 free throw attempts.
Spurs rookies will have their jump shot as a work in progress. That is what they pay Chip to do. Take a guy like Leonard and make him into a 50% 3P shooter.
thats crazy with more than 20 games into the season

I don't have a problem with his aggression and picking up fouls. And he is a good penetrator, something the Spurs are in sore need of.
What I am concerned about is him becoming a black hole. Many of those drives were right into traffic. Some of them he made work, others he didn't. In those cases I think he needs to think about moving the ball instead of auditioning for a spot.
That's bonkers.Their efficiency rankings are through the roof right now.
Spurs 2nd in Assist Ratio, 1st in Def. Rebound Rate, 2nd in overall Rebound Rate, 2nd in Effective FG%, 4th in True Shooting %, 3rd in Offensive Efficiency, and 1st in Defensive Efficiency by a good margin.
