UTSA-UH game on Saturday has been postponed despite the fact that every other FBS/FCS Houston school is playing or has played their season-opener.

I have no idea how you could evacuate a city this size though, without like a week's notice. A week before Harvey ed us, it was probably a Tropical Depression somewhere down near Mexico.
Rita really was a perfect example of the issue. Imagine if we had that kind of gridlock when this thing showed up. The fatalities would be ginormous
Im not talking about evacuating the whole city. The starting point would be neighborhoods in low lying areas or near the levees. Shelters should have been open up days ago before this all hit.
In theory that would work. I just wonder if people in higher/safer areas would panic and flee anyway when they're not supposed to. Isn't that pretty much what Katy residents did when Rita hit? Also, this storm basically ed the whole city as opposed to isolated areas which is hard to predict.
i agree though. If I were in a vulnerable area that got pummeled during the Memorial/Tax Day floods, I would've gotten the out of dodge regardless of mandatory/no mandatory evacuation

You have several examples of businesses, like Bucee's, opening their doors 24hrs to feed responders and other people of need free of charge... then you have decamillionaire pastor Osteen unwilling to open up his church to help out victims. How anyone can view him as anything other than a huge fraud is beyond me, even before this. But people are stupid enough to rush back into his building the first Sunday he opens back up no doubt.

I was in a flood once it must have been around 56/57, water got waist high which meant we could save some things. We stayed in a tent on top the car port. no no wind, thank God. It was still terrible and that was nothing compared to this tragedy.
