Maybe KL is staying, whether via extension or 1 year of forced participation.
And I would be happy if he were, because the team can win a le this year with him engaged and the right trade. But they are STILL short a perimeter creator. Even Leonard was never that. Bringing in Milutinov and retaining one or Anderson/Bertans will fill up the interior, but getting that starting-caliber lead guard is the most important task left ahead of them.

Unless of course Lebron comes over in a Kawhi trade. But I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen, so it has to be some other player who can make all these pieces work.

yeah. marco deal really indicates manu is retiring.

between murray/white/green/walker, there would be no room for marco if manu was returning

Hopefully the Spurs turn off the lights to the office and don't return any calls... call it a summer. No need to re-sign anyone.

i wouldnt mind giving bertans another shot. but parker/forbes should be gone, and anderson shouldnt be overpaid

I hope it's the latter. All three of those guys should have some trade value. It does feel like there's a plan in place (even though I'm not sure what the plan is). The FO must have a pretty good idea on where kawhi/others are going and for what...
    Starters:
    Murray

    Gay
    Aldridge

    Bench:

    Belinelli

That's as far as I've gotten

The good thing is that Green's and Gasol's contracts are actual assets now. Trade for Kemba

Indifferent on Bertans/Anderson since the spurs need frontcourt players. But Parker and Forbes can gtfo

The Spurs with Rudy Gay and now Marco Belinelli project to have $107M in committed salary. The Belinelli contract will hard cap the Spurs at $129M based on the guard using more than the $5.3M midlevel exception.

I fully expect Green and Beli to play a lot of SF minutes if they're both on the roster. Manu coming back wouldn't affect that too much. I've been very vocal about how Manu's contract suggested he was going to hang them up, but even if he leaves, I don't think the team can afford to play wings at the guard spots right now.

I can't see the remainder of the mle as enough for Milutinov, that's not even 3 million, right?

They really can't go into another year with crap at back up big like last year with Joffrey. They better get someone else, and I don't think Metu or Brimah count

You would think. But I'm sure pop thinks the rookie needs to get over himself and spend the year in austin

Depends on what Charlotte wants. If Green and Murray (or Green, White and Gasol for Walker and Zeller) get it done, I'd be very interested.

I still wouldn't call Gasol an asset though. At best, he might be able to get a useful player who's overpaid on a long-term deal.

These type of vet signings are what you do when you plan on Kawhi staying.

We won't know exactly how much it is until getting Beli's actual contract details. It could be much closer to $11 Million. I also don't think the Spurs are going to blink on Milutinov's deal. $3 Million is more than generous for a player of his caliber coming in. Bogdanovic killed the perception of value, but everyone else before him took reasonable deals to get into the league.

Forbes could always just sign his QO that he was given (to fans dismay I guess).

I think Davis and Kyle will test the market and see what's out there for them.

Parker? I really don't know tbh. He didn't get 12:01 and he's an unrestricted FA.

    now
The Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs have shown interest in unrestricted free agent Trevor Booker, according to league sources. Returning to the Indiana Pacers is a possibility as well.

There's literally a hard cap, as in you can't go over it no matter what, if you do certain things in that off-season. Using the non-taxpayer MLE is one of them. Getting a sign-and-traded player is another.
