Democrats are distancing themselves from CRT
This whole debate sheds light on how ignorant the right really is. "Critical Race Theory," was developed in a series of law journal articles in the 90s that furthered ideas like the indeterminacy of law, the perpetuation of social norms through law, and other post modern or post structural ideas. Like critical legal studies in the 70s and 80s, critical race theory was a critique of legal and social ins utions' perpetuation of racial stereotypes in a seemingly normalized matter.
All of which is to say: it is downright ing stupid to think "critical race theory" means teaching the civil war or teaching the history of race-relations. That's not CRT. That's history. This thread is proof that the right has the ultimate boogey-man in CRT. What's funny is no one has bothered educating themselves on what they're actually talking about, and the "debate" has devolved into black/white is good/bad.

And for the record, I don't think CRT is a particularly productive lens for viewing social or legal issues.

MS's law doesn't define CRT, but it will defund any school teaching it.
CRT is as expoused by conservatives is a consensual, mediagenic hallucination. By it's very vagueness, the anti-CRT seeks to chill everything it doesn't like in schools, mainly liberal teachers. It's viewpoint discrimination in the law pure and simple.
