Lol North Carolina one spot behind the horns at Rivals. Mack Brown was never a good X and O coach but he has always been maybe the best salesman in the country
He knows everyone's name in the room.

I think UCF is a monster football program waiting to happen, tbh...
Florida, Florida St., Miami... That State is packed. And still sending a ton of players away to other States.

Damn, thats impressive af that they're already at the top besides OU/UT. What they did in the G5 has always been the blueprint for UTSA just wasn't expecting them to make the jump and immediately be near the top.

They've got the location, the massive student enrollment, the willpower and the $$

Im thinking football should be separated from the other sports in conference alignment.

Makes no sense for highly regional sports, lacrosse etc... all of the sudden go through a shift in opposition or worse, not even have any opposition in a new conference due to football.
It seems the regionality of other sports does not need to bend to football. Notre Dame has already accomplished this by themselves.
Maybe we should be asking what conference does your women's volleyball team play in instead of UCLA playing Rutgers in volleyball.

I dunno the financial repercussions under such a scenario but I agree. CFB is fking everything up. Especially comical considering Football travels/plays the least amount of games

Football is in a whole other world financially.
It is beholden to network TV now. ESPN and FOX are helping direct things and competing by helping move teams.
This does not need to impact most of the other sports. Especially the sports that come to an end at the college level.
And you made a very good point about all the travel. Other sports can stay regional. This can be done.

That actually makes a lot of sense. It'll never happen though.

I think Aztecs would prefer to stay in their current position. Until a bigger fish calls.
The buyout for them to leave the MWC could be as high as $34MM. That's one reason not to leave.

Never say never. If this latest round of conference realignment somehow goes badly then eventually something like that might get taken more seriously. I think football and basketball would probably stay in the same conference but who knows with the other sports.

True and actually maybe Stanford does go indy in football and then joins the AAC or MWC for Olympic sports

The "other" sports give the school much more of a college feel, especially if they are not profitable to play after school. The kids that participate truly love sports and really have to balance their sport with actual school. Although it must be said that the private tutoring that football players get, if they really want it, can be phenomenal. I know this to be true at UT and Tulane personally and anecdotally.

Yes, which is why it's sad these sports seem to be an afterthought in conference realignment for some schools. I think UT's non-football and non-basketball sports will be in a nice position though.

Chris Del Conte just got a 7 year contract extension. So the other sports will not be overlooked.
Just wish he would float the idea of separating football from the other sports with regional appeal.
He has enough of a good reputation to actually get it done with other ADs and within UT itself with the regents and president.

Reports saying Stanford will play in the ACC for free if they let them in. Desperate times.

For a rookie who should be fighting for a roster spot, UTSA Corey Mayfield Jr sure played like a soft got with the game on the line tonight.

Ravens 24 game unbeaten streak lost on a fg at the buzzer.

He was involved in 3 of the crucial advancements on the final WA drive.

From an Austin station I think.
The new Commish going WWE on Texas.
Since we are not a part of the Big 12 apparently, can we get some refs from the ACC or something.
This is the second time we have had these sorts of statements. I will say it does make the season interesting, so Brett got my attention

Actually Brett may have made a great move for one game. TT v. Texas final game of reg season. Maybe gather a lot of WWE viewers. Here is the plan:

TT and Texas come into this game as a must win to get into the Big 12 playoff game. Texas shows the video on their giant video board right before kickoff with a picture of Joey McGuires face. Get some Big 12 viewership going for next season after Texas and Oklahoma have been "thrown out" of the league a year earlier than wanted by Brett.

If this was Aggie and Brett came to College Station, he would have to have Big 12 police protection. I can imagine the Corps of Cadets unleashing swords upon all these county sheriffs with big ole southern police hats.

This big 12 commissioner is a good one. Had he been the PAC commissioner thru all this, it might be Tech, Baylor etc in bad spots instead of Oregon St/Washington St

He has set up the best basketball conference.
And he is definitely from the entertainment industry.

And TT is in a better spot than UT to make the playoffs. But Texas is going to get some awesome games both in and out of conference. Home and home with Michigan and then Ohio St. Next 4 years. I wonder if the SEC makes us play Slippery Rock for an off week. I think we actually might keep going with UTSA which should be fun. But it looks like TT will probably not be on the schedule after the goodbye... and thats actually not TTs fault. I would keep that game personally. I wonder if OU and OK st. keep playing...

Stanford, Cal, SMU to ACC. Crazy times!

SMU is reportedly getting ZERO broadcast revenue for 9 years. Stanford & Cal coming in at a big discount too.

Looks like the AAC losing a key member in SMU, so who replaces it?

All the big 12 teams are definitely in easier spots to make playoffs now with UT and OU gone. But TV thanks the horns for moving for the potentially awesome matchups.

That's HUGE for SMU even if they aren't getting paid any time soon

It is for sure. But I can still barely wrap my head around the fact that they won't have a fellow conference school within like 800 miles of them.
