Oh, I see several other people who I presume saw the first half are asking the same thing.

Why are you singling out Manu in poor rebounding in today's game?

ALL THE PLAYERS were sub-par in their rebounds today. Duncan only had 8. Manu 3. Parker 2. Elson 5. Oberto ZERO

    This was against the Jazz.
    Duncan had 12

    Therefore...

While the Laker game was a great blast from the past, we know full well this team is going to get killed against good rebounding teams in the playoffs, no matter how valiant their effort will be.

But in the meantime, the good effort at least makes games watchable again.

Elson stunk out loud. Oberto was invisibile but couldn't be detected by his stink like Elson could.

Since I didn't see the first half, can somebody 'splain to me why Oberto got 23 minutes to produce his zero rebounds, while Elson got 5 in 10 minutes?
You know better than to question a coach with three rings. WTF is wrong with you? [/Tpark]

I think Pop was caught up in the idea he had to play his tall white guy against their tall white guy.

The Jazz rebound extremely well with or without Boozer. Does it really hurt them not to have Boozer when they have Millsap to step in and do just as much of the dirty work? Boozer is a great rebounder, but the Jazz have a lot of those who can fill in the gaps. They missed Boozer's offense much moe than his rebounding.

The Spurs played well tonight. They're not going to becomea good rebounding team this year with the players they have, so we might as well learn to live with that. Tony showed big nuts, and I thought Tim and Manu did a good job tonight as well. Thats very positive. The Spurs also played very good defense.

I'm not sure what people thought. Did posters here expect a blowout because Boozer wasn't there? You're not going to get many blowouts against good teams like the Jazz on the road. Its just not going to happen.
MANU did a good job? just a joke. only you Argentina rubbish think so.

    Meh, the whining should end.

The Jazz Beat us more than we beat ourselves guys.

Duncan did great down the stretch. Our shooters hit big threes, but the Jazz had Okur hit some killer shots.

Quit blaming our players. Our team lost because the Jazz outhustled and outplayed us. Yes Horry forced a shot, but who cares, it's just one game. We'll learn from this.

I think that is a fair assesment and what most people here have been saying all year. However, I do think this team has shown a lot more effort, heart, and has generally played much better in their recent games.

The fans here shoudln't expect this team to improve overnight. Yes, the Lakers game was a big win but that doens't mean the Spurs are ready to run off 9 in a row. Fans should however at the least be pleased with the increased effort on the court and the improved D as of late.

millsap kills every team on the boards...not just the spurs. he's a rebounding machine.
I didn't realize averaging 4.2 rebounds on the year is killing people..

In how many minutes? Millsapp is definetly a player who's main skill is getting boards and does so better than most.

Disappointing loss. Why didn't Pop have Tony in on that last play when we needed the three with like 27 seconds left? We needed his penetration and kick out or at least his ball handling. We should have never been down ten points to begin with. I hope the back to back curse doesn't rear its ugly head tomorrow in Phoenix.

The Spurs slept for 3 1/2 quarter in this game (the same way they did against the LA), but this time their late run didn't pay off - we thought this team was inspired from the great "W" against LA, but unfortunately this isn't the case. Another devastating and pathetic performance during large part of the game - the Spurs started playing real basketball in the last 5-6 min. in the 4th quarter - you cannot win many games by doing that - props to the Jazz today - we saw clearly that Elson is NOTHING - he couldn't get rbs, didn't cover anyone, didn't score...Besides Tony and Timmy, and somewhat Barry, Manu, and Horry, the rest of squad produced NOTHING today - the execution in the end of the game was EXTREMELY POOR - Horry mishandled the ball several times - I have no idea WHY Barry didn't play in the last 1 min. of the game (instead of Bruce, who missed wide open 3 to tie the game)...The Spurs had no answer in the Glass - Elson and Oberto were a DISASTER...Pop didn't find anyone to cover Okur for 48 min. The Spurs have a real problem with the backup PG position - nobody is there to cover for Tony...The Jazz won without Boozer - a disastrous loss for the Spurs today - they HAD TO WIN THIS GAME vs. a short-handed team (without their BEST player), but they failed! One more reason to blame coaching and management for NOT improving the squad this year - A SHAME!!!

Tomorrow is the Suns - and after today's POOR performance, in a back-to-back situation with the OLD DONKEYS in the team, the Spurs will get BLOWN OUT by 20+ Points - the Suns won't miss the chance to stick it in...I will be deeply surprised if the Spurs win in Arizona, and I hope they prove me wrong…

I'll take your word for it, but that must have been some pretty fancy doing in a game where everyone admits the #1 problem was rebounding, and one guy was averaging zero rebounds per 48 and the other was averaging 24. Elson must have been grabbing the ball from Tony and handing it to Deron Williams.

his last 2 games when he played 30 mins versus the Nets and Hornets he had 17 and 12 rebounds and he had 8 tonight. he's no slouch on the boards despite his 4.2 season avg. when he gets mins he rebounds just like tonight.

The opposing Bigs absolutely killed the Spurs. 58 points out of Okur, Millsap, Araujo. 39 points from the rest of the Jazz.
Araujo sucks- how did he manage 7 points and 5 rebounds?

agree manny. you can just look at him board and tell he has a knack for it. he's a solid rebounder. he's just a rook and sloan rather chew nails than give rooks significant playing time.

I don't know .. the suckage factor was pretty much even. At least Elson grabbed a few boards. Oberto didn't grab a board and was getting abused on the low block.

    Amazingly abused.

Tim had 5 blocks, that means in the last 10 games he has 38 total. thats 3.8 blocks per game.
