The actual season that this thread was started featured Pop embarrassing Splitter and benching him for the OKC series and playing Bonner instead...

we all know how that season ended and what it cost the Spurs.

Hopefully these pre-mature ejac bumps by the Popsuckers won't jinx this season....

I'm so glad Tiago Splitter starts now
Are you glad he didn't start last night and the Spurs went to small and hero ball?

As long as Bonner wasn't Tiago's replacement - Pop is playing his best players instead of his favorites (Bonner) - this was all we asked - and of course I would never be upset at Manu starting over anyone.

But this isn't what you want to hear.

    Bump.

1- Not playing the rotation that got us here

2- Overplayed scrub Neal because he made some fluke shots in game 3 when we were winning at home.

3- Gave Wade/Lebron/Bosh a HUGE confidence boost by playing midget lineups

    4- Throwing away the HCA

5- Killed any confidence that Splitter had early in the game.

6- Not playing Kawhi on Lebron all the time, this is the Finals, there is no need to rest, kid is 21.

7- Don't have a game plan to counter the fronting on Duncan

    Legendary coach
    Holy crap...

    Bumpola.

This list looks so bad now. It inspires awe in its awefulness.

I'm so angry that my dream boy Bonner only played the last seconds of garbage time whereas Tiago played during the real game. Damnit, why does SA210 have to always own me!!

Man, I really got to SA210 -- he's in reassuring emoticon overdrive.

Sorry the Spurs are winning, guy. Why don't continue your search for the real Boston bombers?

"We want small ball - and we want Bonner!"

    From the MYSA article;

But it’s not necessarily what small ball gives the Heat, rather than what it takes away from the Spurs.
With Tim Duncan firmly entrenched as the team’s low-post anchor on both ends, Tiago Splitter is the odd man out when Miami goes small to such a significant extent. Such was the case in Game 4, when he was subs uted just 47 seconds in and played less than 14 minutes in total — essentially serving as Duncan’s backup.
That’s a substantial loss for the Spurs as the two form one of the most dominant defensive tandems in the NBA.
The Spurs are allowing just 76.4 points per 100 possessions in the 39 Finals minutes Duncan and Splitter have been deployed together — the lowest of any two-man lineup that has played more than 20 minutes together in the Finals, and 40.2 points fewer than the team’s series average.
Those numbers mirror the regular season, when Duncan and Splitter combined for the lowest defensive rating (92.7 points/100) among the 46 two-men lineups that saw at least 300 minutes.
Splitter’s individual numbers in the Finals are almost as good: a team-best 97.3 points allowed/100 possessions on the court, 114.6/100 off.
It’s easy to get hung up on the Brazilian’s poor offensive performance after having no fewer than seven shots blocked during the series. (You might remember this one in particular.) Those struggles, in addition to his rudimentary post game, are big reasons why the Spurs can’t simply keep him on the court and pound Miami back into normality.
But as the numbers show, Splitter has a massive impact on the other end of the court, and that’s every bit as important against an explosive Miami team whose most productive and efficient game in the paint (50 points, 25-for-38 shooting) coincided with his shortest stint of the series.
No wonder Spoelstra hinted that the Spurs should expect to see more of the same as the series continues.
“This we feel is the best move for now against the Spurs,” he said of going small.

So, SBM was against the small ball that jump started Manu and definitively won game five.
