One guy I don't blame is Tomlin. He's a bulldog. But there's a reason he gave up 36 home runs and pitched himself out of the rotation in August. If he doesn't have it he can get s ed and he didn't have it tonight, simple as that.

There's no way he was ever going to wear out all their pitchers. Maybe if it was Game 7. But that early in the series? No way.

Francona should have started the guy that the Cubs hadn't seen yet, not the proven choke artist. But he got too caught up in "old-school" thinking.
    That was his Game 7.

Just do it like this:::Before the 1st Indians batter goes to the plate top of the 4th, tell Kluber to go down there. "I don't want to call down. Go down there and tell Andrew to warm up, the 4th is his. Tell everybody else that all hands are on deck. And Corey, don't come back up here."

Francona was done in by vanity, tradition & habit.

I would have started Merritt too, mainly because I can't stand Trevor Bauer, his Jay Cutler face and his Twitter trash-talk while he s himself on the mound. But what's done is done.

If the Cubs come back and win this series, give them credit. They'll have proven themselves the better club. But we've still got one more to play after tonight.
But, he "won." He got you to 18 outs. You had the run. Don't make him win that game again, and again and again.

You can't throw that up there hoping to surprise them. That's not MLB hitters. That's why they're MLB hitters. That's the beauty of the profession.

CN has already said it but I'll say it again: if you don't trust your starter to go more than three innings you shouldn't start him. If you want to blame o for something, blame him for starting Bauer in the first place. Ryan Merritt had one major-league start going into the postseason and he went four-and-a-third in Game 5 of the ALCS. He didn't fall over with his legs in the air on the second trip through Toronto's lineup.

That's a stupid plan because it's not actually Game 7. They could have still lost, and then they'd be looking at two more games with gassed pitchers. They've already been pitching Kluber, Bauer and Miller on short rest as it is. It's just an insanely high-risk strategy because if you lose, then you've just conceded the entire series in Game 5.

No, Joe, Bauer succeeded on Francona's call. Francona failed Bauer thru his own vanity, and the tradition of the game.

You're clashing Indians pitcher against pitcher like it's worthy or relevant. It's not. They're each an en y.

Bauer won the point. He got them to 18 outs and if you're smart and directed you don't let the Cubs get a second bite of that unbitten apple. Shove Miller down their throat then and tell him:::"When you want out come to the dugout and get me. No problem, Andrew. If I have to come get you, it will because you failed me."

Well, if it makes Cully feel better I'm sure all hands will be on deck tomorrow.

Got to give credit to the Cubs. There's a reason why they've been the best team in baseball all season long. They're just damned good.

Well, it's true. Look, Cully, I've been a fan for a long time and when a team loses everyone wants to blame this guy and that guy- and , I'm doing it here with Bauer- but at the end of the day, when you get beat it's usually because your opponent is just flat-out better. If the Cubs win this series it'll be because they're a better club than the Indians. Simple as that.

It was there for the taking, for the brazen attempt. Bauer won, don't you understand that, Joe? He was never going to pitch a lot of innings with a low ERA. That is not him! So, Francona gets 3 innings at 0 and the run, but, he's vane and selfish and a big shot. Wants more, "I'll show them." So, he leaves him out there for a second bite. 15 innings later he's ed. This has got trace to do with the Cubs and everything to do with Francona and his failure as manager. Let him own it. He earned it.

Cubs are taking much better swings now and finally executing. They ain't coming out of their shoes chopping wood like they were in Games 3-4. Addison Russell especially.

Indians got a small victory tonight by forcing Maddon to go to Chapman for 20 pitches. I also like Corey over Hendricks. I think Hendricks' lack of velocity will be his downfall. He relies on pinpoint location more than anyone, and he'll be under more pressure than any player in any sport in recent memory. I see him leaving a lot of 88mph fastballs fat over the plate. Weather will be relatively warm, so the ball's gonna jump off the bat like it did tonight.

I like the Indians 7 runs to 5.

Not a huge baseball fan, but this series has been exciting. How apropos that two teams that haven't won a le in collectively, 174 years have to settle it in a do-or-die game 7. But man, the Cubs have a core that looks like it'll be around a few years.

If history is any indication the Cubs should be favored tonight:

    - In WS history a total of five clubs have come back from 3-1 deficits to win: the 1925 Pirates (vs. Washington), 1958 Yankees (vs. Milwaukee), 1968 Tigers (vs. St. Louis), 1979 Pirates (vs. Baltimore) and 1985 Royals (vs. St. Louis)

    - Only three clubs have come back to win Game 7 after losing a 3-1 lead: the 1912 Red Sox (vs. New York), 1967 Cardinals (vs. Boston) and 1972 A's (vs. Cincinnati.)

Gotta bet on Kluber. Hendricks is an ace, but Kluber has better stuff and isn't as control reliant as Hendricks, which is a huge advantage in a pressure cooker game like this. I also don't know if the Cubs have truly solved their curveball problem yet. That said, it's Kluber's 3rd start in the series, so fatigue could be a factor. But funny enough, he's best when facing teams for the 3rd time.

Gotta also bet on the Indians pen.

I think both aces will be a bit shaky. I see something like the Indians holding onto a 4-3 lead as both teams go to the pen. Indians tack on a couple of insurance runs against Edwards, Wood, Montgomery or whomever. Cubs then rally, but fall short. 6-4, 7-5 type of final score.

Really hope that one HR won't be the tale of the game tbh. After that Fowler AB, Kluber looks a lot better.
