eSports league, lots of these out there for all programs...
The weekend post has a good take on size of 2021 class. I agree with most of it except need for WRS Horns are not loseing any WR unless attrition strikes. Give me 4-5 OL and 2 DL and I will be happy.
I'm 100% in agreement on the WR front. The Horns have quality, young depth at that position. Eagles is a Jr. and most likely won't declare early. Smith, Washington, Woodard and Moore are So. and all should be contributors this season (although Moore is a wildcard). Whittington, Lewis (if he returns), Dixon, Harrison, and Omiere are Freshman and have a number of years remaining on the 40. Now, if a stud WR says they want to be a part of the 2021 class then you take them. However, they don' t need to take a body just to take one this year. You go hard after WRs for 2022. Keep the numbers this year for other needs.
1996 UT v. Aggie
Dan Neil
What a classic guard. He was so quick and so good at getting position and then leverage with those quick feet.
And I found out he grew up in Aggie country, visited the campus, then UT and immediately decided he wanted nothing to do with the fake military stuff and too many chants to remember while being told how to be an proper Aggie.
This game was a continuous highlight film for him. He drove d lineman down the field and completely smothered LBs until they were grounded. He had multiple plays were he would take care of his initial assignment and then take off and blast someone downfield. As the Aggies tired in this game, he became more brutal.
I don’t know about the rest of his games at UT, but from this game he would have to be considered one of the best offensive lineman we have ever had. I wish he would come back to the games and participate in recruiting.
Dan Neil is good people. He’s the nicest former pro athlete I’ve met, other than Tom Kite. He sat there and talked to an absolute nobody (me) for hours about sports.
You should watch the rerun of that game on youtube.
I had no idea he was that good in college.
I knew he had made it at Denver as a mainstay. (3 rd round, probably due to size as that was a 1st rounder type game)
He played that game like a beast.
I know he must have fond memories of that particular game.
My father played golf with Tom Kite and said he was a genuinely nice person.
I had a professor at UT who had both Kite and Crenshaw in his class at the same time. Supposedly, the two sat on opposite sides of the room and didn't interact in the least. Didn't really like each other. Their relationship was evidently heavily influenced by their compe ive natures.

I ran into them together with their wives at Casita Jorge's. Bought them each a marg. They seemed to be besties - and fun was had by all. But this was after they were both out on the tour. Maybe it was different when they were in school together?
It's been my experience that College golf is much more compe ive than when on the tour. The guys on the tour tend to act more like a band of brothers while trying to get on the tour tends to bring out the compe ive nature of them.
I was at the Sonterra Country Club here in San Antonio. While in the country club I saw Chi Chi Rodriguez and Lee Trevino. They were with their wives and were just laughing it up like little kids. It was interesting just watching their interaction. You would never know they were compe ors on the senior tour.
College golf is both team and individual compe ion.
I'm sure at 65 they were different individuals than they were at 20.
If I ever got to talk with either of them, I would love to hear their recollections on Harvey. Also, I would live to hear their versions of the stories they were hearing of the golf program down at U of H back in the day. Faldo, Couples, Lietzke, Elkington, Fuzzy, etc, etc.
Was in the mid-1980s somewhere. So I guess they were in their 30s at the time. Both very nice guys
