Nice pics. Thanks for the updates ladies!!!
You're right, they haven't played any pre-season games or been in training camp focusing on winning a championship.![]()
Then explain to me please how we had to wait forever and a day to get our car back from valet parking.![]()
I didn't bid on it; I won it.
It is more fun to get it autographed in person anyway. And even if it isn't Rasho's shoe ( even though it is!) it will still be his autograph. So there!

Thanks to everyone for the pics/reports. As usual, I am jealous.Sounds like it was a lot of fun!
My first reaction was: WTF? I live an hour away from Croatia and I've never heard that they have shamans?!?!?!? I almost googled for it
It took me a while to figure it out. One of the funniest typos I've seen in a while![]()
yeah I also got confused, but I think Ploto really does need to apologize to Shamans and the cultures that have them, its not like croatians were being associated with genocide or something bad like that... (!)
I wasn't going to reply but people don't seem to get it. The claim was that Tim Duncan did a skit mimicking Croatians. If you don't understand that, then I don't know how else to explain it. She did not CALL Tim Croatian- she said he was making fun of them and someone making fun of another ethnic group is offensive. He can make fun of his "own" all he wants but you don't make fun of the ethnic group of others. I also doubt that Croatian Catholics would be too happy with the notion of a shamam representing them.
All she had to do was say that she made a mistake and did not mean to imply Tim Duncan would do something that racially offensive.
OK I posted before reading the whole thread and the drama that insued.
I thought it was a pretty obvious unintentional mistake by SC and personaly found it hilarious (specially since I'm quite familiar with the Croatians and should have immediately realized it was a typo, but I didn't and almost went searching for the Croatian Shamans).
Furthermore diego, I don't understand the piont you are trying to make when you say: "its not like croatians were being associated with genocide or something bad like that...".
I don't think he knows history well enough to realize what he is saying.
No. She accidentally called him Croatian instead of Crucian. She did not CALL Tim Croatian- she said he was making fun of them
Ploto- did you see my Rasho shoe? It's Nike.![]()
She isn't saying he is making fun of Croatians.
She isn't saying he is making fun of Crucians.
Good picks
Waiting for the video
It's kind of like how I feel when people say Pop goes Serbian. I don't find it humorous, especially given that Pop is Montenegrin.
But I can agree to disagree. It's all about perception. Beno could come out dressed as the "Slovenian" whatever- and it would be OK, but not if Brent Barry did the same thing. That would be offensive.

Just watch the damn video and get over it already.
There was no perception, agenda, message, bias....just an old Johnny Carson bit. Nothing more, nothing less.
I only responded because people have addressed things directly to me. I saw what Tim did- I don't need to see a video.
Most people say Pop is of Serbian heritage. I think even Pop has said it.
David Robinson: (Laughing). Pop is mad most of the time. I think that's just his Serbian heritage. That's from him, not from me.
He has a great sense for the situation. He's done a good job this year of balancing that out. He doesn't go crazy all the time. Before he used to get crazy a lot more. He knows. He does a good job of getting us fired up, getting us motivated. Tonight, he did, he got into us a little bit and then we responded extremely well.
But it shouldn't take that for us to play well and that's what everybody in our locker room needs to understand. It shouldn't take that for us to play well. We need to be self-motivated and keep our poise without somebody getting in our face and yelling at us.
It's funny because when Pop gets really pissed his veins pop out and he screams in a foreign language. Do you have any sense of humor at all? So, when you barge into a funny thread, you should preface it by just saying you have no sense of humor at all. You're the only one who found the honest mistake offensive, so just simmer down.
It has been my understanding for some time that his ancestors are from Montenegro. When Team USA went to Belgrade before the Olympics, I beleive Zarko and Pop went to the area of Montenegro where Pop's family is from.
To stereotype an entire ethnic group is offensive.
Who's stereotyping? Are all Serbian-Americans this defensive?
Could I call something- going Mexican? Or going Puerto-Rican? No it is offensive to use an ethnic term that way when you are NOT a member of that group.
Is this really that foreign of a concept to people??
This whole Crucian/Croatian political correctness making fun of ethnicies is a global issue that won't ever be solved online. The subject of the skit was a spoof an old Late Night stand up bit, ploto. I understand your concern over people getting things confused, and it doesn't seem like the conversation is going anywhere. Sometimes things are a lot more simple then they come across. Melissa said she was sorry, so I think the whole thing should just be dropped.
I think the point is that Pop (and the people around him) think he's Serbian. Or he, at the very least, speaks Serbian.
Just out of curiousity, what's your ethnicity? I thought you were American.
all this over a typo. Ploto...just let it go.
I think it depends on the intent, which in this case was clearly not malicious.
I hope that Pop never goes polish

You can accually make a mistake calling Pop a Pope
![]()
But Kori even if he IS Serbian, someone else should not call his screaming and yelling at people "Going Serbian." Can you see how that could at least seem troublesome when it is said by someone who is not of that ethnicity. If someone who is Serbian wants to say Pop is going Serbian- fine- he has that right- but others in my view just do not.
I'm done.
I am glad people enjoyed the Tip-Off luncheon and I hope they raised a lot of money for charity.![]()
Well since ploto can't let go of the Rasho trade and Rasho is from Croatia ... I think that makes her Croatian.

Seriously, can we just lock this thread, re-post the pictures and start over? Isn't there a political forum to discuss this?
Hey!!!!!!
Wars have been fought in the Balkans for less than this!!!

I do not know. I guess I'm just not so sensitive that way. Afterall, I don't get offended when people call Dirk a Nazi. Even though my heritage is almost purely from Nazi Germany. I mean, I guess I could good offended that my people were getting associated with a wuss like Dirk. But I don't.
It's a joke, so please please don't anyone get their panties ruffled.
I am going to assume that is a joke and that you know that ONLY you can get away with it.
See, you can say that and it's funny.
