    Dear Corey Maggette,

You are a sack of liar who says thinks like, "You have to make sacrifices in order to win," then you go straight to a lottery team that you don't fit into for more money. Please stay the away from our doorstep when you are worthless and ready to hitch it up to a contender.

    Co-Ma,

    Go there. They're good peeps.

You might even get a reach-around from Manu or Tony while stretching in the halls before games.
    That is HILARIOUS!!!!

lol no need to throw it back in our faces. What he said is fine. If Corey Maggette didn't go sprouting off and talking about making sacrifices and taking less money to win I wouldn't be mad at all, but since he did and then went to a lottery team that he doesn't even fit into he can go himself.

Like any NBA player is going to turn down $10 million to play in a beautiful city to take $6 million to play in Podunk, Texas.

Come on now, you are smarter than that.

    It is always about money.

Is S.A. really podunk? Considering where a multi-millionaire athlete would live within the city?

Can't be mad at Maggette. He would've been a fool to leave that much $$$ on the table. After all, it's not as though he committed to coming to the Spurs then changed his mind. He was holding out for a better offer from the gitgo.

Be mad at the Spurs for not having a suitable fallback option in place in case Maggette spurned them.

I don't know, you tell me.

The Bay Area is a pretty nice place to live, lots of hot chicks and great views....pricey though, but CMaggs can afford it.

Style of play would also seem to be ideal for him. If he averaged 22 ppg in Dunleavy's walk it up the court offense, how many might he score in Nellie's run and gun gimmick offense?

Bottom line is he got almost double the money per year. It could have been a hole like Cleveland or a wasteland like Utah and he still would have signed for $10 million per instead of $5.8 million per.

No brainer, winning is completely secondary to the money for NBA players 99.9% of the time. The .1% only applies when a player has made over $125 million in NBA contracts prior to the most recent signing.

You are 100% correct. There is not one person on this board that would take $32 million over 5 years vs $50 million over the same 5. That is $18 million that no one would leave on the table.

agree...in fact, who leaves a job to go to another job paying LESS money. i'm not mad at him, he's taking the guaranteed cash right now whereas with the spurs he would have to wait a couple of years to get his payday.

it is what it is...time to move on.

p.s. i still hope the er's toe falls off from infection the next time his metrosexual ass gets a pedicure
