My God! He didn't even have the decency to refer to Hillary as "her"...he use "it"! It was certainly no surprise when this turned into a huge story after it happened...oh, wait...McCain criticized Democratic contenders for offering what he called costly universal health-care proposals that require too much government regulation. While he said he had not studied Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton's plan, he said it was "eerily reminiscent" of the failed plan she offered as first lady in the 1990s.
"I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," he said of her proposal.
It was the second "lipstick" reference by the Obama campaign today. There was something certainly intentional going on. I say if he's stupid enough to use the idiom while someone else in his campaign is also making a "lipstick" reference; he deserves what he gets.
Besides, plenty of people -- even in his own audience -- thought he was referring to Palin long before the McCain campaign became offended over the comparison.

Sean Hannityhas a hard on right now. He will wear this sounbite out until after the election. Of course it won't be the whole soundbite just the one sentence.
That's unfortunate speculative fear-mongering but it's still not as bad as outright deception. Besides, that statement by Obama was covered plenty when he said it.
I've never seen a bunch of bigger whiners than the McCain campaign. They're going to whine their way into a disastrous White House.
Like I said, plenty of people sincerely think Obama was calling Palin a pig. McCain exploiting that belief is politics...No more and no less ridiculous that other antics pulled by both parties over the years.
If he wasn't trying to evoke that image, he should have used a different metaphor or at least have been smart enough to know many would make the connection. If he was, shame on him. Oh well...either way, he loses. I'm satisfied.

Nobody on this planet sincerely believes Obama was talking about Palin. We've all heard the phrase "lipstick on a pig". You're grasping for straws like your nominee.
