With only 2 outstanding Centers in the league right now (Yao/DHo), guys like Bynum, Oden are extremely valuable.

Look at any other position (G, SH,SF,PF) and you can see at least 5 very good players and probably 10 "good" players. Except at Center, you have 2 outstanding guys and the rest are roleplayers.

If Bynum plays anything like last year, he's worth every penny of $88 million although I'm hoping the Lakers can squeeze him for less than $60.

I agree. Bynum is worth a max extension on potential alone. Seven foot beasts are the rarest commodity in the NBA.

$88 Million is a whole lot of money for Bynum right now. $78 Million seems about right. Skilled 7 foot beasts don't grow on trees. He's gonna make a nice chunk of change no matter what. A no brainer he deserves the max or very close to it.

Well, now he has a full year to prove himself of that superstar status you Laker fans anointed him to.
No one annointed him. But if you weren't 'impressed' with how he played last year and don't think he has upside then you're basically re ed. No other way to put it. Certainly played better than Yao at the same age. , Bynum's age 20 numbers completely trumps Yao's at age 22.

Lakerfan: they refuse to understand what 1/3 of a season means to the "numbers."

He did that against the best the NBA had to offer and was only getting better with each game. Those 'numbers' would have looked even better had he not gone down.

Lakerfan: Is able to notice true talent and true upside in terms of size and skill at such an important position.

Lakerfan: Not really concerned if spurfan and rocketfan can't notice it.

How about these for nicknames or phrases:

    That guy is over-bynumed.
    Andrew Bynotproven
    AB88
    Bynumnuts
    Bynumskull
    Andrew Bynuffofthis

Now, those are not all of them, but I just wanted to start a brainstorming session, so feel free to add on.
Dude, I'm a huge AB fan but those are some serious en gems.

Just trying to keep it lighthearted up in here! I like AB88, I just think some people go way overboard now. Give it some time, then go nuts. I think he will really help the Lakers and they are easily a favorite.

Except that he says the Lakers will win 70+ games this year (its in his sig) and that he thinks Bynum is better than David Robinson.

Bynum definitely looks like he's added muscle. He's going to need it going up against Oden.
