somebody forgot his 12/12 game AGAINST Phoenix
I am sure the Spurs will try to bring someone in ASAP to fill that spot.

You may be referring to Loyola Marymount's, Hank Gathers
The Spurs have 15 players under contract. The only way that they can bring in someone is to release or trade one of the 15 players under contract or move someone off of the roster (and sending them to Austin doesn't count). Until someone is released or traded (or otherwise removed from the roster), the Spurs can't "bring in" anyone.
If this is career-ending for Fab (something I hope is not true -- and something that doesn't appear to be true), then Fab will be removed from the roster and the Spurs will have a roster spot to use to obtain another player. There are cap implications associated with such a move, but that's a different question.
The basic point is that if you want the Spurs to replace Fab, you'd better be proposing the release of someone else at the same time.
Keep an eye on Hill tonight, and Mason if he runs point...

Forgot about the fact that the roster spots are static. Too bad the league doesn't allow roster exemptions for such emergencies.
they actually do and have done that before... it's just a matter of knowing if it's career ending and the cir stances...
What is with all of this career ending talk? If there is any evidence that this is true, than that would royally screw the Spurs for this year.
Yeah, this is scary news. Last time Oberto suffered this heart ailment because he got elbowed in the chest. I wonder if he got hit again or it came back without contact this time. I'm guessing the better scenario is he got hit again and this just didn't come back out of the blue.
If he were going to miss more than two games, I would have expected the Spurs to waive Farmer and sign a make shift big. But if Oberto is only out two games, the Spurs can survive by using Udoka at power forward.
Not trying to be funny but the last time Oberto had the procedure, he went on to play the best basketball of his life during the 2007 playoffs. Hopefully that can happen again.
Oh and Mahinmi needs to sack up and get out there on the court. When he first got injured, he was supposedly going to be able to play the last handful of preseason games. Then the news changed and he was going to be able to be back for the beginning of the regular season. Now apparently he's in full Beno mode and it's unclear when he'll be back.
What other big you got?! Huh?! WHAT?! Yeah that's right! You got me punks!!!
Hi Bonner!
You wanted it, you got it! Your chance to shine now Red Rocket.
Get well Fabs, never wish this kind of stuff on anybody.
dang, not a nice way to start it off.
Ian, get your ass out on the court. This will be a prime opportunity for you. With Oberto out, this can be your preseason.
We have a full roster, there's no one we can bring in, unless we waive a player.
IF YOU SAY WAIVE ME I WILL FIND YOU AND EAT YOUR KIDS THEN RAPE YOUR WIFE SO THAT THE NUTRIENTS THAT I GET FROM EATING YOUR KIDS WILL GO INTO YOUR WIFE AND THEN BE IN OUR CHILDREN SO THAT A PART OF YOU WILL STILL BE IN THEM BUT YOU'LL KNOW THEY AREN'T YOURS!
Having only 3 bigs won't be a that big problem for the first couple of games.
These two games aren't a back to back and there are 3 days of after the second one. I don't see a serious drawback at Duncan playing 40 mpg in these games.
It could be more problematic in case of foul troubles but it's only two games on a 82 games long season.
Can this off season be anymore ed up
Bonner's gonna choke a and win this game tonight.
DAMN FUKKIN STRAIGHT!
TAKE A SWIG OF MY BREW!
Too bad Ian is out. He sure could come in and help tonight......but we can play Finley at the 4 with the small ball lineup and maybe even Udoka. Tolliver would be a guy who could step in and help but he is excused because of his mother's death.
I hope Bonner can play good tonight.
YOU HOPE?! I am going to write my name on my balls and then tea bag the out of you then when people see you and read my name across your forehead and read your new Matt Bonner moustache they'll ask what happened you will say Matt Bonner stamped the out of my face with his nut sack that's what happened!
First I want to say I hope Fab is alright. He may not be the most athletic player and all, but he really does play his ass of for us. He plays hard. I love the effort Fab brings out there and hope he is alright.
Secondly Watkins was one of my picks. Spurs are freaking idiots with the front lines in the West not have looked at big men like Watkins. All of us Watkins homers said that he could play spot minutes for us. Tonight would have been a game he could have played spot minutes.
Instead we sign a big that is supposed to hit shots, but he doesn't hit any shots and plays from the perimeter. I would have taken Farmer, Hairston and Watkins before Tolliver.
