For all the people saying this isn't "media-worthy," it's not like this was a full front page story evangelizing Tony Romo's act on par with the election of the 44th President of the United States, it was a blog entry.
The people that read team or sport-specific blogs (well, , any blog really) are those who really want to know the ins and outs of that subject.
It's from a Cowboys blog on a Dallas newspaper's Web site. Oh, the horrah because a sportswriter mentioned something people in that particular community love to follow.

Me and 2 buddies were in Prague. Had just left a casino and decided to get some food from a street vendor and beer. some bum was just watching all sad. we told he could eat and drink whatever he wanted... his bum friend watched all sad... we invited him too...then we took them to a bad ass stripbar... the stripbar didn't want to let them in, but since we(my friends and I) were all in suits and started ranting and raving..they let us all in.. those bums had the times of their lives.. food, alcohol and pussy!

I was hesitant to open this thread because I thought it would be a bunch of Romo sucking. I was pleasantly surprised to see Tpark make an ass out of himself.
For what it's worth though, no one hates the Cowboys quite like I do. But even I think Romo is a pretty cool dude.

Do you think that bum was happy Tony took him out of his crappy little world by taking him to a movie to cheer him up. Hot dogs and popcorn and water down soft drinks down really changed his day. If Tony really wanted to cheer him up give him a case of Jack Black or give him a job in the Dallas defense backfield.
And that's truly the unfortunate thing. You don't know who is really needy, and who is out to take advantage of kind people.

I have a co-worker who used to work at a station in Phoenix. They did a story once on how much panhandlers can make in a day and it was something outrageous.

He could have something, or his publicist could have or it could have been someone at the movie theater. No one knows for sure and that includes you.
Is it possible that the action was on purpose? Absolutely. It could be that Romo is a media attention . It is equally as possible that he did it for the sole purpose of being nice.

LOL yeah I would say what took them so long hahah. Was it a good deed yeah it was he could have ignored him like im sure we all have done from time to time. Im honest I dont give all the time, and im sure Tony doesnt either. Im just saying that this story does seem like an attempt at attention whoring but your right Mike none of us really will know. Its possible either way. if Romo did do this out of the kindness of his own heart then props to him because not only is that something I wouldnt do but I hate to say it but its a risky move. When someone is homeless who knows what kind of desperation they might have in their mind. The guy could have pulled a gun and seen dollar signs and try to rob him. maybe he didnt even know who he was. I had a friend that was homeless for a year and lived under an overpass. He told me he did all kinds of stupid for money. He used to do some of those bum fights for like 20 to 30 bucks a fight. He said some of those guys would get the kicked out of them for 10 ing bucks sometimes. He said he went days without eating. Maybe Romo's heart was in the right place and maybe we didnt get the full part of the story. For all we know we he might have given him 100 bucks or something. I just feel that the PR team wanted to feed some positive off field activity since the cowboys have been getting bad press all season. Who knows??or maybe he had nothing to do with it.

People are full of when it comes to their favorite teams. "I like when my players are classy and aren't getting arrested"........Bull ing .......you like when your team wins championships, if it takes a little pitbull beating, or wife beating to do so, you really don't give a because you don't know these people in real life.
Sure it's nice to read a story from time to time of a pro athlete doing something like this, but get off your high horse and quit lying to everyone in this forum including yourself because if Romo had kicked the homeless guy in the nuts but still went out and beat the Redskins that weekend, you would have been just fine with that too.
Actually you can be a fan of the Cowboys or any team and still want that team to be full of players who exhibit class on and off the field. Doesn't mean its going to happen though. Even though the majority of the players have not had scrapes with the law, odd are that at least one or two will no matter what team you root for. I do agree though with the rest of your post. Most fans care about winning period and do not care how it is achieved or by who. When Michael Irvin had his troubles with the law, I didn't cheer him any longer or buy anything Cowboys related featuring him but I am positive I was in the minority.
I like both championships and class acts. aka the Spurs.
