The first league to sell out would likely be the big money N.B.A.
Kori, aren't you from LA? Remember the old rumors about the Clippers moving there?I think an NBA team in Vegas would be a disaster (I'm not saying it wouldn't happen). Imagine all the broke players on that team .. spending all their money on gambling and ho's.
The first league to sell out would likely be the big money N.B.A.
LOL, okay Buddy. Call me when you get that freeway done down on the soutside. Express route to Mexico City, was it?
You don't seem to realize something. David Stern is a business man. He cares about money first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and when he gets to six he refers to one.
There hasn't been a leadership group in place like the Maloofs with the political, economic, and community clout to shoulder a franchise move to Vegas. That's no longer a problem.
I should have figured you were a Real World watching re , it sounds about right.
Run along now, time to go beat off to your Dusty/Dizz tag team tea bag poster hanging over your bed.
Yeah, original comeback. A freeway. Damn, by now I'd figure you'd come back with a much better diss or anything that would be remotely original or something.
It's sad really.
And yeah, Stern is a business man. A smart one. And he knows it wouldn't work in Vegas.
And numnuts... this isn't new, the Maloofs have wanted to move to Las Vegas before. Did they suddenly grow this super power over night?
Dude, what's next? A diss about me building a skyscraper up your Mom's pooper?
Aggie's got his together. Stern is smart enough to realize that being the firse pro franchise in Vegas, trumping MLB, NHL, and NFL, is worth millions, maybe even the b-word. That's why either NO or Sacto will relo there in the next five years. If the Maloof want it bad enough it will happen. Otherwise some other team will set up camp there and will reap the benefits.
If he's going to cash in so big, why hasn't he put a team there?
Because the bad outweighs the good.
Writer,
I get where you're coming from. Some major sports team in the next five years will move to Vegas. They will make a load of money, and then others stuck in bad leases and whatnot will follow suit. It just makes sense tat the NBA, the most forward thinking of all US major leagues, would bat leadoff.
Do you know how you sound?
You have it seem like you have this power to tell the future, but you have yet to this point used it to get the lotto numbers and make big big bank.
Why haven't you done it already?
I can blame society, the duly-elected government, and numerous others. The time hasn't been right yet. Soon, it will be.If he's going to cash in so big, why hasn't he put a team there?
But the time was right for Memphis? New 'freakin we avg. less than 10 people a game" Orleans?
, even Charlotte got a new NBA team.
That's three shots for Vegas...
I call you a ' because you are one, and I rag on you about your little spursreport freeway dream because it may quite possibly be the dumbest thing I've ever heard, outside of you trying to rag on someone about getting some.
Show me where the Maloofs have tried to move the team to Vegas before. They may have talked about it before to get a sweeter deal for something up in Sacramento, but that's about it.
The financing for a new Sacto arena just got shot down, this Webber trade is more handwriting on the wall - they don't want to be saddled with a broken down CWeb trying to move the team.
Again, Stern is a businessman. Before when moves were discussed, Vegas was just a gambling mecca. It's now the fastest growing metropolitan area in America, and there is a load of money there.
With shows like NBC's "Vegas" on tv, the negative gambling stigma of Vegas has largely dissipated. You could even throw in the Real World Vegas, the young folks seem to dig that MTV especially hard. That public relations nightmare is no longer a concern.
Think about the suites alone - they could put the nicest suites ever made in a pro arena in that place, charge whatever they want, and the casinos would snatch them right up to have for their big clients. I mean they could charge a million dollars a suite and put 50 of them in that thing, and they'd all be gone like that. Talk about revenue stream for the league!
Christ, a franchise in Vegas would probably net over a billion dollars a year. Stern may have concerns, but you go and put 9 zeros on his desk, and well, money talks. Bull (like yours) walks.
And in terms of the NFL, it's pretty much viewed as the next team to relocate is going to LA followed closing by SA. Relocation or new fran.
I'm sorry if I offended you with my forward thinking. I really don;t mean to upset you. The deal is that money goes first and everything else is secondary. Stern, Selig, Bettman, and Tagliabue are all realists. Sooner or later one of them are going to realize that they are missing a market that would benefit them. Once one of them folds, the others will follow.Do you know how you sound?
You have it seem like you have this power to tell the future, but you have yet to this point used it to get the lotto numbers and make big big bank.
Why haven't you done it already?
Memphis was hot because of the Nashville/country music boom.
New Orleans (Jazz) and Charlotte both had histories in the sport on their side. Yeah, like Stern is going to pass up a black owner (don't shoot the messenger) in a city that was bent over like Charlotte was by an asshole owner.
Keep living that highway dream. If an NBA franchise goes to LV, there will be an NFL team there long before there is one in SA.\followed closing by SA.
San Antonio's best shot at an NFL franchise just went bye bye when McCombs agreed to sell the Vikings.
puhlease.in terms of the NFL, it's pretty much viewed as the next team to relocate is going to LA followed closing by SA
San Antonio isnt even on the goddamn radar for the NFL.
Its LA, then Vegas numbnuts.
Isn't it time to give Crusty his bunions a rub.
SA will get a franchise in about ten years, once Austin is considered part of the same market. The NFL knows how football crazy Texas is. Look at how the Texans were given a 'chise when LA was without a team.San Antonio's best shot at an NFL franchise just went bye bye when McCombs agreed to sell the Vikings.
My dreams? Or my idea's. Hey buddy, at least I have ideas. At least I am creative. That's a lot more then can be said for you, but I guess that's now much seeing your handle has Aggie in it.I call you a ' because you are one, and I rag on you about your little spursreport freeway dream because it may quite possibly be the dumbest thing I've ever heard, outside of you trying to rag on someone about getting some.
It's well known.Show me where the Maloofs have tried to move the team to Vegas before. They may have talked about it before to get a sweeter deal for something up in Sacramento, but that's about it.
They'll most likely sell the team because they can't relocate to Vegas. The financing for a new Sacto arena just got shot down, this Webber trade is more handwriting on the wall - they don't want to be saddled with a broken down CWeb trying to move the team.
Vegas was the fastest growing sprawlzilla metro in the US long before Memphis got their team. Before New Orleans got their team. Before Charlotte got thier team. Good one though.Again, Stern is a businessman. Before when moves were discussed, Vegas was just a gambling mecca. It's now the fastest growing metropolitan area in America, and there is a load of money there.
And you rag on me for mentioning the Real World. And I guess CSI Miami has help Miami... aw, never mind. With shows like NBC's "Vegas" on tv, the negative gambling stigma of Vegas has largely dissipated.
Wait, I mention RW and you spoon feed me crap about it... ok, whatever bro.You could even throw in the Real World Vegas, the young folks seem to dig that MTV especially hard. That public relations nightmare is no longer a concern.
And speaking of a Las Vegas image...
Las Vegas... What happens here, stays here. Or whatever their tourist slogan is. Nice huh...
So I'm guessing that's why Las Vegas already has the NFL... MLB... NHL... ?? Wait... the XFL...?Christ, a franchise in Vegas would probably net over a billion dollars a year. Stern may have concerns, but you go and put 9 zeros on his desk, and well, money talks. Bull (like yours) walks.
Damn... are you living in the 1980's?
Black owner over money... shoot yeah.
Nashville/country music boom... shoot yeah! 1988.
Dude, a little country boom in another city wasn't the reason Stern put a team there.
And last time I checked, the country boom in Nashville was late 80's, early 90's. You know, when Nashville based channels like CMT and TNN came on air.
Dumbass. I mean, Aggie.
Why dont you go ask the poters at www.skyscraperpage.com
People from all over the US, whenever asked about this seem to have LA then SA.
Not just me.
Would any of those people include NFL owners? I think not.
Oh s yeah! I'm done with the Aggie. I felt my brain cells pop away as I continued to argue with her. This message is hidden because Aggie Hoopsfan is on your ignore list.
I don't know. How about Red McCombs and Tom Benson.
Both who strongly believe the NFL should already be here.
But naw... I guess since only Benson is a NFL owner now, it doesn't matter.
Anyways, back to this piped up rumor.
Any more news?
Writer,
The perception of Vegas has changed from Sin City to a sprawling Sin-Cty lite metropolis. At least as far as I know. I've never been off the strip in my visits there, but apparently they have a vibrant modern city away from where I get drunk and play blackjack.
