Too bad you can't say that for sure. Not only does poll after poll say that the Iraqi people want us out of their country, they also have plenty of reason to hate us.

For instance... Abu Gahrib, Blackwater shooting spree, American soldiers rape 15 y/o and kill family, 130,000 + have died since the invasion, rendition, Gitmo, etc.

Somehow, after all of that, I have a feeling the Iraqis are somewhat justified in not being to fond of mr. Bush.

Saddam would've repaid this shoe-throwing man by putting him one of these.

    That, or an acid bath.

The journalist that did it was kidnapped and beaten a few weeks ago.

BAGHDAD, Nov 19 (Reuters) - An Iraqi TV journalist who was kidnapped last week in a busy Baghdad neighbourhood said he was released unharmed before dawn on Monday. Muntazer al-Zaidi, a correspondent for the independent al- Baghdadiya television station, said he spent more than two days blindfolded, barely eating and drinking, after armed men forced him into a car as he walked to work on Friday morning in the bustling Bab al-Sharji area of central Baghdad. "My release is a miracle. I couldn't believe I was still alive," Zaidi, 28, told Reuters by telephone. Zaidi said the kidnappers had beaten him until he lost consciousness. They used his necktie to blindfold him and bound his hands with his shoelaces. He never learned the iden y of the kidnappers, who questioned him closely about his work but did not demand a ransom. The captors later told Zaidi he would be released, throwing him on to a dark street, still blindfolded, around 3 a.m. (0000 GMT) on Monday. He was then picked up by his brother.
How sad. At least he got to tell his story.

Yeah, the reporter must really miss the good old days under Saddam. Now they are so oppressed under the imperialist american dogs.

I don't remember the name of the guy who threw shoes at Saddam but I did find a picture of him..

Where's the UN resolutions against that? The sanctions against the United States six years after it happened?

We abused our power because we could and we were pissed off about 9/11. We destabilized the region in the name of Freedom. We started wars over less.

None needed, we brought the offenders of Abu Ghraib to justice. And, by the way, it looks to me like that person is suturing the wound...and that the prisoner's face is hidden to prevent further humiliation. Not discounting the possible method in which the wound was inflicted -- and you didn't say, it's still better treatment that would have been had under Saddam Hussein.

That young (possibly a medic) may have just been giving a thumbs up to the folks back home. And, being a medic who had probably seen much worse, she may not have considered the context of the photo background. How do we know otherwise?

Some abused the power and were brought to justice. The region was already unstable.

So let me get this correct. Someone tosses an old smelly shoe at bush and he moves out of the way like a young boxer in the ring, but when our nation is under attack, he sits a classroom and reads a book?

Although i dont agree with Bush's agendas or decision...that was disrespectful and un-called for. That reporter should thanks his lucky stars that he can get away with that crap and not be killed on site.

What's ironic is that it was Bush's liberation of Iraq that gave him the freedom to protest and not die.

Not that we know of...after all, who knows what happened between their kidnapping and the time their parts were dropped off at their relatives house in garbage bags. Well, those that didn't just disappear altogether...and forever.

So now it's all about freeing people.

So why aren't we invading China, Burma, North Korea or several countries in Africa?

I think the problem is that Americans have a ed up notion of freedom.

Freedom is anything the United States does according to Yoni.

In Iraq freedom means bombs, torture, social unrest, no electricity, and chaos.

Life expectancy has dropped in Iraq since we have arrived, I don't think that's a positive reflection on our comparative difference to Saddam Hussein.

I think what all of you are missing is, it doesn't seem to matter who tortured this reporter, he was pretty pissed off that it happened. It just so happened to be Bush that sanctioned coercive interrogation in Iraq, so I think he put the blame where it belonged.

I find it disturbing that our benchmark for personal liberty/freedom in Iraq starts and ends with Sadaam Hussein.

Thats not a starting point, its not even on the ladder of ascension.

Bottomline: some guy threw his shoes at President Bush. With cat-like reflexes, he dodged it. Unfortunate story is the reporter was supposedly kidnapped and beaten/starved. He was pissed and it would seem he placed the blame for that ordeal with America/Mr Bush in particular.

Is he right for doing so? I am not sure. No details of his abduction have been revealed so far, but it doesnt sound like he was kidnapped by Americans or that even the questions asked of him concerned his reporting on American occupation (or at least, no story has said so).

All in all, this is a big whoopty-doo. Bush got to show off his reflexes and homeboy got to throw his shoes, black-woman-style.

We know two things Bush can do well.

    1) Dodge Shoes

    2) Throw a baseball

So if it's your priority, why are you not busy overthrowing dictatorships around the world.

    You're all talk.

You'd be an idiot to argue otherwise.
