Yeah, Bonner was really shying away from shots and cowering when he had play defense in the post.....(SARCASM IN FULL EFFECT)
Give me a ing break with all this choking bull .
Bonner has been absolutely unconcious and playing above his head (shooting wise) for weeks now. He was bound to have an off-night sooner or later.
It sucks the Spurs lost, and it's a shame they wasted a very good effort with their collective poor shooting, but sometimes a defense forces a team to make some outside shots and the opponent can't take advantage on a particular night. That's basketball.
N.O. does everything they can to congest the lane against the Spurs and take their chances. They could of (and probably should have) been burned by it tonight, but they weren't, so props to the bugs for the win.
There was plenty of positives to take from this game, even if the end result was disappointing.

You guys probably own Tony Romo jerseys too don't ya?
Says the Cowboys, Rangers and ex-Mavs fan.
So? I'm a Spurfan too...doesn't mean I don't think they have any chokers.
Romo is the epitome of a choker.
The Rangers are not chokers...they are pathetically inept...there's a difference between being a choker and eternal sucking...figure it out.Rangers
To choke you have to actually be good in the first place.
I've never been a Mav fan...ever, not for one second of my life.and ex-Mavs fan.
Okay, so you admit to being a Dallas fan.
And you admit it again.
Oh, sorry, ex-Lakers fan.
We should start an official choker apologist thread for you guys to spew this crapola.
Translation: I love chokers and maybe if I can put whottt on the defensive it will change reality.
Are you or are you not an ex-Laker fan?
Are you or are you not someone that is apologizing for Matt Bonner bricking umpteen wide open threes?
I think you are.
Too bad Byron Scott didn't give Devin more minutes tonight...the Devin show might have saved us.
It gets old seeing grown men act like pussies...i'm talking about Whottt
I'm glad that his confidence was not faded and he kept shooting the ball. Good learning experience.
Link?
Your boy Marks really hurt the Spurs too.
Oh go yoruself...pussy. And learn to use the ignore button.
This thread.
Compared to who? Sideline Mason?Your boy Marks really hurt the Spurs too.
Which post?
Hate on the replacement. You got that ploto posting style down pat.
Congrats![]()
Yeah and he focused on other parts of his game to compensate for his bad shooting...
Doesn't change the fact that he puckered wide open in the biggest game of the year...and it's not like this is a one time thing.
I like Bonner, I truly do...as I said earlier, it's not like Kurt Thomas is a better option...
He's a legitimate NBA starter...he's earning his spot.
That said, the man missed upteen wide open threes, and you will not win any le when you do that...especially if your name is the Spurs...and it's not like it was hard to see this coming with Bonner based on his career up till this point.
I'm glad he hasn't lost confidence...but the Spurs are not here to build Matt Bonner's confidence...he gets paid multiple millions of dollars per year because he can hit 3 pointers from the PF position...and if he's not doing that when he's wie open against top level compe ion...then he doesn't need to see the fourth quarter in big games...and he's not earning his money.
Typical ST crowd.. one bad game and the crucifixion starts. It was just a matter of time before Bonner had an off game.. in fairness, the entire team sucked the 4th quarter. What's more important is to see how everyone responds against the Magic after the rebuke from Pop.
So I guess Bonner wasn't clutch in the 4th against the Rockets when theSpurs won 77-75? Or maybe he was, and tonight was just a bad game for him? He missed EVERYTHING, open shots, pointless shot, clutch shots. Tonight Matt forgot his shooting stroke. He did play D though, and I'll take 7 and 7(should've been 9 and 7, dude was only 50% on dunks).
Why don't you guys that defend wide open choking just put "I hate Tim Duncan" under your names...
Or better yet...how about, I want to see Duncan have to score on 4 guys instead of just 2?
This wasn't just another game...it was a benchmark game and what did we find out? Doubling Tim Duncan is going to be an easy and painless option for the Hornets in the post season.
It's up to Bonner(and Finley and Mason) to make that a scary option...and they didn't do that tonight...they had the easy job.
So while you guys are propping yourself for your support of the underdogs...just remember, that while you are doing that and Bonner and co are buttclenching...Tim Duncan, who busts his ass in practice and the offseason to be the best player in the NBA and then puts out the effort on the court to justify that claim, is getting his ass kicked in the post because those lovable underdogs can't hit an open shot like they are paid millions to do...

Yes, because December regular season basketball is a precursor for how playoff games will be played. That is a Sun Fan level take right there.
Brilliant take...because the odds of Duncan being doubled are definitely going to go down in the playoffs. Coaches don't ever look for who to double off of...it completely skips their mind...it's not something they pay any attention to whatsoever...
Robert Horry? Matt Bonner? What's the difference, Byron Scott thinks to himself...
Props for that insight
I know, I know...but Bonner won't feel the pressure as much as he did tonight...when it's the playoffs.
