    Peeps need to quit bagging on Muhammad. I saw him help lead the Kentucky Wildcats to their 1997-98 NCAA championship in the Alamodome.

    He was was solid player on that squad and he has been a solid pro player. He's a of a lot better than Rasho at the five.

    Nazr Mohammed Press Conference Quotes


    The newly acquired Nazr Mohammed has made it to San Antonio and after taking a physical, stopped by to talk to the press about his whirlwind trip to Texas.
    On being in San Antonio – It’s a great feeling. I’m happy to be a part of a winning organization and I’m just looking forward to getting actually getting started.

    On being traded – Actually it was a total shock. I was in the hotel preparing to take my pre-game nap to play against Philadelphia and my agent gave me a call and I thought he was joking at first. Then Isiah (Thomas) called shortly after and told me that he’s traded me.

    On being traded to one of the best teams in the league – I’m very fortunate because I’m coming to one of the best teams in the league. I just want to go out there and help anyway I can.

    On being back in San Antonio – It was a great experience to win a (NCAA) national championship here and hopefully I’ll win an NBA championship here. I’m just trying to come in and do whatever the coaching staff wants me to do.

    On transitioning to a new team – I’m just going to try to fit in wherever I can and rebound and defend because those are two things you can do and be selfish at and still help the team.

    On playing for Coach Pop – I’m excited to get the chance to play for him. He has a reputation similar to coach (Larry) Brown as far as knowing the game and demanding hard work.

    On the assets he brings to the team –My defense and rebounding. I fell that I’m one of the better rebounders in this league and I feel that at the center position I’m as good as most centers or better than most centers in this league. I’m just going to go out there and just try to fit in and don’t mess anything up!

    On the shock of the trade – Even though I knew this was a crazy business, I didn’t picture this, I didn’t think it would happen, but then again I never thought I would play in New York either. This is a pleasant surprise.

    On liking Mexican food – I do like Mexican food , but my Spanish isn’t good at all!

    The one problem this trade might impose, we really dont have that high energy player off the bench anymore, too bad we couldnt get a guy like jerome williams from the Knicks

    I don't even think Mohammed was a starter on that team...I think Magilore was.

    I'd know for sure if I even remotely paid attention to college hoops.

    Kentucky's bench comes to the rescue
    SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Kentucky found the winning edge for another national le right on its own bench.
    Reserves Heshimu Evans, Cameron Mills, and Jamaal Magloire gave the Wildcats the spark they needed to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit in a 78-69 victory over Utah in the NCAA championship game Monday night.

    Twelve games into the season -- and two losses -- Smith inserted Nazr Mohammed into the starting lineup in place of Jamaal Magloire at center to add more offensive punch. Mohammed went on to make All-Southeastern Conference while Magloire was a reliable backup.
