Bowen was voted in front of everyone in the first half of your sentence barring Stoudemore, as well as the others. That's what so crazy.

Bowen also beat Tony Parker, Steve Nash, Brandon Roy, and Andrew Bynum in total votes to name a few in the West. Just for fun, out East he also beat Paul Pierce, Chris Bosh, Vince Carter, and Devin Harris, along with every center but Dwight Howard by miles.
How the does Bowen get more votes than these stars??? The straight ticket must be the explanation, or maybe the public likes dirty players now more than they used to.

Your information is wrong. Bowen received 509,593 votes. Ginobili (669,837) and Parker (614,939) both have more.

    Here are 2 different sources:

Where are you guys finding info that says Bowen finished 3rd amongst west forwards?

There is something funky going on. Why would the Chinese vote for Bowen? I don't get that part of the conspiracy.

maybe Bonzi Wells averaging 40/9/5 a game all over China's CBA has them valuing perimeter defenders.

Darn! I wanted to vote Oberto in for the slam dunk contest, but didn't for I thought it would have been a lost cause, but now that I see this... We should do it for next year!

There are a lot of weird things about the ballot results. The amount of votes Bowen received is not that strange by comparison. Bowen was voted behind Duncan, Anthony, Stoudemire, Artest, Nowitzki & Gasol, but in front of Battier, Scola, Howard & Aldridge. Maybe a little strange, but not that far fetched.
Dwight Howard got more vote than Kobe or LeBron, which is infinitely more interesting.
Of course, Howard didn't have much compe ion at his position in the east.
I think that a huge swing in international voting would account for the amount of votes that Ginobili & Parker received, but they are actually better than everyone they were voted ahead of.
There are a lot of people in China and Yao is probably the best center in the west, but
Jianlian should not have even been on the ballot. Third best forward in the east? That is ridiculous. C'mon China! Jianlian is beter than Pierce? Bosh? Anybody else on the ballot? I don't think so.
Allen Iverson is great, but he doesn't deserve to start. Not this year. Devin Harris got robbed. Joe Johnson & Jameer Nelson were last? Criminal.
Samuel Dalembert only beat Rasheed Wallace by less than 2k votes, but seriously, how does that happen?
And how did Greg Oden get more votes than Chandler, Jefferson & Camby. Is anyone paying attention?

He's Chinese, I'm Chinese, I'm gonna vote for him!! Sound familiar?

    *cough* 50% of Obama supporters

I used to vote for who I think deserve to get invites in the ASG

I'm kind of tired seeing Phoenix having 3 players each yr.

This yr I voted only for the Spurs. 35x incl Bowen. different line each time

Just noticed Manu got more votes than Amare...
A Paul, Kobe, Manu, Tim, Yao line-up makes a lot more sense as a basketball team than a Paul, Kobe, Amare, Tim, Yao one.

I bet Bruce spent all season with a laptop in the bench voting for him, is not like he had something else to do.
But it doesn't matter, do you actually think that if Bowen would've been selected as a starter in the All-star game, the NBA would've reckoned it?

Can you imagine Gary Payton's rant on TNT last night if Bruce freaking Bowen was voted as a starter?

I think his head would explode.
